The lower portion slides out...so if you know you are off roading/rock climbing, you can remove the lower half. All those mud flaps look very rigid, and the "flap" part does not seem to be part of the design.
What happens when you wheel over your first rock? Are these things going to get ripped off?
Bought these, waiting for them to come in the mail for install, know the above...The lower portion slides out...so if you know you are off roading/rock climbing, you can remove the lower half.
Iโve taken the bronco on some extremely tight trails with logs, mud holes up to the bumpers, and large rocks big enough to test out the rock rails and the mudflaps are unscathed. I havenโt removed the lowers either. You could totally run these without the lowers and still have some rock chip protection the lowers are super easy to remove.Bought these, waiting for them to come in the mail for install, know the above...
But if you have them and installed, how much of the flap is left without the lowers? Enough to still get ripped off/catch on things? Because it seems like they would. BUT, it also seems like you could rock these flaps without the lowers and also get pretty significant protection?

I installed mine without removing any wheels and tiresFor those of you who installed the Gatorback mud flaps - did you have to remove the front or back wheels to install? I can imagine itโs tough drilling into the rear steel bumper with a wheel installed, but thought Iโd ask.
Itโs not technically modifying the steps. You just have to loosen them and shift them to get the proper clearance. Not without modifying the step according to gatorback
I got mine in yesterday going to have my mechanic buddy install them thereโs a lot of bits and pieces with this set really high qualityWelp, I've got the steel bumper and ordered them.
Install video here:
Shows install for both steel and plastic.
I also started a thread for discounts if you decide to pull the trigger: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/trustworthy-ford-accessory-websites.27909/
That will likely help, but I donโt think as much as mud flaps. I installed rock rails on my Jeep Grand Cherokee, and found they did help with keeping rocks/mud down.
Now if Go Rhino would make something for 2dr Bronco's....sigh... :-|Thats why I went with the Go Rhino D6 Dominator Side Steps. Others have said these have dramatically decreased the rocks damaging the paint.
Me too. Here are instructions to reverse tube steps. Not without modifying the step according to gatorback
