95% of my driving will be commuting - 45 miles a day with most of it being highway miles - I want something that will get up and go when I want/need it to :) even with the 2.7, I'll be looking at power-adders - intercooler upgrade, tune, exhaust etc
Then you need a 700hp tang or tesla which can do 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and tops out at 155mph. I'd but one except i need a 450 mile range and they can only make 400 miles at present. When i get on the hyway i don't like to stop and its 450 miles from my one home to my ranch over two mountain ranges

I love the comparisons of 116 and 160hp vehicles to a 270hp vehicle based on cylinder count...

Ford Bronco 2.3 vs 2.7 giphy (52)

I believe they both get max torque at 3000 rpm.
oh yes, I owned one and also a 2010 gold D that vw bought back. I loved that car but it had 108,000 on it and vw offered me within $6,000 of what i paid for the car so it was a no brainer, i sold and bought a jeep. now the jeep is going replaced by a Bronco i hope. I love the low end tourq with D engines only thing better is electric

I'm going with the 2.7. I drove a 4runner for a while and couldn't handle how slow it was trying to pass someone on the freeway in Colorado at elevation. I'm sure the 2.3 is fine, but plan on keeping this Bronco for a while and want to have no regrets!
Same story here. 2.7 all the way!

I drink plenty usually at least a quart on the trip. Used to be a six pack trip but i don't drink beer anymore. i got in the habit of long arduous hikes with no water cause i loved the taste of cold beer after the hike. I mean like a before sun up start to sundown return no liquids. Guess that came about from my ding batting days when we would marathon one or two units temp often 100 plus then by 1300 we were done and hit the closest waterhole and order a large pitcher each. Sometimes i would tell the girl to bring me another cause the first would be gone by the time she returned. Its a wonder i never killed myself...huuumm...maybe i did but don't know it<smile>

Taking the manual vs automatic out of the debate. From a tuning stand point I prefer a dual turbo to a single turbo.

You can’t really compare crawl ratios between an auto and a stick...the auto would have the lower “effective” crawl ratio in your scenario anyway, the way most people look at it (double the actual crawl ratio of an auto to compare).
I dont think so, a skilled clutch foot does the same thing on a stick.

Do any of you remember the NASA love triangle that went wrong? One of the women strapped on a pair of adult diapers, drove non stop from Cape Canaveral to Houston (only 1000 miles and 14hrs) just to merc the other chick.
