So after 784 miles I've been getting 20-25 MPG all day long and haven't dropped below 19 yet. I know I have stock tires and will upgrade at some point. Anyone else getting this kind of millage?

I have a Big Bend 4 door 2.3 MT, and am loving the manual transmission! I do have a few issues with the sync and a whistling noise from the grill. But all that is minor compared to the over all picture. I've put 784 miles on her in 3 days, and cant wait to get over that 1000 mile mark.

This is amazing! Gives me hope that I might average 20+ combined in my BD build.

What's your driving norm? ie. 40/60 City/Highway, 70-75 MPH highway speed, shifting below 2000 RPM, etc.

If the computer guess-o-meter isn't far off, 20-25 MPG is pretty good for a brick like the Bronco.

This is good. And, if you aren’t calculating it yourself at fill-up, I have found that it is not accurate. My wife and I clock every single tank. Even in our newer fancier cars, the computer is off by 1.5-3.5 gallons. Every single time.

(Screen ALWAYS says it’s getting better than it is)

I was hoping the Bronco would be like my other two Fords, and get a bit better mpgs than those posted. And, if the engines in the Bronco are like the 2 I have, and I expect they are, it will do better after approx. 4-6K miles. It seems they break in very good around then. Also, I did a hand check of the mileage on my Ranger, and compared it to the computer. It was only .2 mpgs on the high. For me that's close enough for government work.

My brother has a F-150 w a 2.7l. He said he gets 21-22 mpg, so I was hoping for something similar. Luckily I am 100% work from home, so my brick won't be requiring too many fill-ups! My wife's Rav4 is our daily driver and it gets around 22-23 for around town driving, which was a tiny bit more than my Milan which got 21 mpg. My POS 2000 Cherokee gets about 14/15 mpg.

My Ranger was off 1.5 gals until I adjusted it, hopefully you can do the same with the Bronco. I also use the Fuelly app which will calculate it and average out your fill ups and tell you your total fuel cost. You can also store and keep track of service records there too.

as the rings bed in to the cylinders, the compression gets better and the engines run more efficiently... also, the EFA numbers were pure estimates. this is a new production vehicle, which had very little performance data available to print on the stickers from the EPA testing..

Have you actually calculated it manually? The computers are notorious for being off. Just curious.

I once had a bigger brick, '76 Econoline, 3 spd, 300 straight six, good workhorse engine but I got only 15mpg so 20-22 looks good to me. I'm thinking I might do a bit better since I drive fairly conservatively and get 2-5 miles better than sticker mpg typically.

Glad to hear as I’m getting the 2.3 MT too. What did your window sticker say was the combined city/highway MPG?

Also is the truck sluggish from takeoff or is it fairly peppy? I drove the 2.3 auto and it felt significantly sluggish from a stop.

Very nice! Stock 'open' differential in the rear or did you upgrade to the locking diff?

That's wonderful!

Trying to think what would prohibit me from getting the same with my 2.7 stock tire lux obx. Maybe being automatic and slightly heavier
Could be the same. It takes the same amount of energy to move a vehicle through the air regardless of the engine size and HP. The increase weight does matter, but only a very minor amount. What makes the difference is the efficiency of the engine., how it converts fuel to physical motion. It is possible to have a larger, more efficient engine got better mpg In the same vehicle. This assumes the same driving style. My bet is that i will be a bit worse., but that would not be too bad.
