And the 5.4L V8. ‍
While I’m not a huge fan of the power output of my ‘09 5.4, it does have over 190k miles on the odo. (More like 209k miles when correcting for the 35” tires it has had its whole life). Only engine issues I’ve really had are exhaust manifolds ($150ish), one coil pack, and VCT solenoids that I need to change ($150ish). Definitely better than some other Ford engines I’ve owned. 289, 302, and 6.0 PS.

Homes and autos are extremely emotional purchases.
Autos especially for men, whereas women , so I've read, will buy a vehicle to fit their realistic needs more than how it makes them feel.
And honestly this baby Bronco is a better reality based match for a lot of folks who will nevertheless buy the regular Bronco. My buddy bought a 50k Rubicon 3 years ago - and has never once taken it off-road. Never had occasion to use the 4:1 tcase, locking diffs, sway bar disconnect, etc. In a reality based world where people buy based on the real use functionality, it makes little sense for him to have bought that Rubicon model. (Until you delve into the psychology.) Humans are kind of messed up and don't always make sense, lol.

Those of you calling the Sport the "female" companion to the Bronco seem to have forgotten about this:

The Bronco Sport is the burly brother of the Escape and fits a nice niche between something like a Crosstrek and the Bronco/Wrangler. The Sport is a fantastic choice for an off-roady medium-size SUV for the 95% of people who don't need something as capable as the Bronco/Wrangler. It's plenty capable and not "feminine." Lets give it credit.
Lots of Wranglers are sold to girls-most likely because they are convertibles too...

Plus its smaller then a Bronco-in the animal kingdom, females are normally smaller then males, which the BOF would be considered "male"

here ends my lesson on assigning gender to mechanical things LOL

I don't consider this feminine, even though I mentioned it would be great for my wife. Our current "grocery-getter" Armada has pulled remote camping duties, pulled travel trailers, hauled sports teams to games, etc. It's good to have a multi-purpose option in the driveway. The Sport will definitely be a smart choice for 95% of people. I could also see this being big w/ the overlanding crowd as an alternative to the 4runner etc.

I'm still not convinced it should have used the Bronco nameplate though.

At first glance (on my phone) it looks a lot like a Jeep Compass.

Perfect for those that identify as masculine.

Yeah how dare we leak something, lets show some respect to the company who pushed out shitty transmissions to everyone who bought a Ford Focus.
Yeah except those pictures were not taken at Ford, they were taken at a subcontractor who has NOTHING to do with those transmissions ...

Look I'm on the fence with leaks and spy photos but if this is your idea of some kind of weird revenge porn, then that's messed up

I'm not convinced either - I was mainly pointing out what could be the marketing strategy and possible benefits. But as you mentioned, there are pitfalls with this naming approach. I don't know how it will work out. I'd rather Ford had used two different names.

The Mustang "brand" throws me. I don't get that one. At least both of these Broncos are SUVs. But to have cars and SUVs under a "Mustang" brand seems odd to me. My first car was a beat up $900 1965 Mustang. It's a stretch for me to think of a Mustang SUV.
