@Ricepuddin The Outback is just the first of the models to include the Wilderness trim.

@Thed The Wilderness edition has different suspension, the CVT is re-mapped, the X-mode is re-calibrated, the final drive ratio is lower, the ground clearance is higher, approach, departure and breakover angles are improved. Basically it has higher ground clearance and new GOAT modes (yeah, borrowing a Ford term), and better grip. It isn't just plastics.

This rig will go everywhere a Bronco Sport will go, and anywhere 95% of Bronco drivers will ever go, except rocks (approach and departure angle suck, but breakover angle is better than the Bronco). It'll do it with more comfort, better fuel economy and at a lower price. It's much more practical for most people than a Bronco, but it still looks like an Outback.

The only new plastic cladding is the bumper caps. Those larger fender flares and rockers already existed on the Australian version of the Outback.
The Outback has always been a little boring in color and accents compared to its little brother.
Its looks, finally, match its off road mission.

I got that, but this doesn't give me hope for a turbo manual crosstrek. It'll be a lift and tire/wheel combo and probably not much else.

Now a wilderness wrx would be fun

Same towing
Better fuel mileage (basically guaranteed at 26mpg hwy)
I can probably guarantee a standard cold weather package also.

I think the Outback/forester is a much better option than the Cherokee, but I think the 4runner is a class above. Only thing it’s missing is gas mileage.

however, while the Outback tows 3500, my forester is only is rated for 1500.
