So instead of getting back to a more sane smaller grill, Toyota doubled down and went giant, why?
It kinda worked for Audi, Genesis and Mazda? The GM grille is pretty big

If only that grill folded down/forward for tailgating.........could get like 50 brats and and a few racks of ribs on it

Japanese motors make really nice cars but they aren’t sales successes so they try to appeal to Americans by making them bigger.

happened with the 2005ish Subaru Legacy, it was narrow and awesome and European looking and I read a magazine article that said they made the next gen “bigger for bigger Americans.

the raptor comes out with, forgive me if I’m wrong, but necessary width clearance lights on the grille, and every Tom dick and Harry puts the same lights on their dodge Rams.

the original titan is a good example of Japan just trying to make something huge, IMO

if Americans would just buy the better product.....

japan wouldn’t have to dumb their product down
Koreans learned the same thing...

My ex-son-in-law got to smooge with some Samsung execs in Korea (he was on business for AmEx) and they were telling him how many years ago they were trying to figure out why Americans weren't buying Samsung VCRs. So they send several employees to the States to live with American families for a year or two.

They came back with a ton of great insider information which is why Samsung started dominating the American market.

Bigger was one of many things all the teams said when they came back. That's why you can buy rediculously oversized Samsung refrigerators and washing machines.😁

I don't doubt that Samsung still sends people to live here because they have a good grasp of what Americans want.

“What is Toyota thinking!?!” :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Massive grills are the in thing right now, idk how anyone would be surprised.

It's hilarious because a lot of times half the grill is fake and blocked off.

I’m less interested in the looks, and wondering more about payload. That has always been the Achilles heal of the Tundra. I believe my Crewmax has a payload off around 1,400 lbs.

Kinda looks like a cross between the things I like about the Tacoma and 4Runner, not bad Toyota, not bad.

I use to work for the engineering department of Toyota, and did some of the work in the Texas plant for the last major model Tacoma change. I wouldn't drive a Toyota truck if it was given to me. Last I heard, this was slated to get a plastic bed, just like a Tacoma. Not a real truck, so no thanks

At least the 4runner has aged remarkably well for something as late in the generation as it is now. Well, the outside anyways. Inside, eeeeeeeeh...
You're right, it doesn't look dated even today. , which says a lot. The only thing keeping me from getting one is the ancient engine that can't get out of its own way lmao. Fingers crossed for the TTV6 going into it!
