Anybody else being asked to pay $500.00 to order a 2022 Bronco? I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, and was told it'll be a $500.00 deposit, although Ford still says $100.00?!
I had to place a $1000.00 deposit a year ago when I ordered mine, and it was UNREFUNDABLE if I cancelled. It's a system in place to try to protect the dealer allocations for future VEHICLES (not just future Broncos)

Nope, mine was $2000 to place the order. Welcome to the world of "Hey can you guys order me a custom $60,000 product without me promising to buy it when it shows up?"

I paid $500 the first Bronco and $1000 for the second one. Same dealer. Already took delivery of the first for MSRP and got my deposit back via mail.

I did $500 on my order. It's a refundable deposit. Nothing to lose.
Refundable is per local/state laws. This is not a Ford deposit, it is your dealer's. Check YOUR'S and ask the question. I put down $1000, fully refundable in writing. It was credited at delivery.

Serramonte Ford did not ask for any deposit when I placed my order with them. I specifically asked @Gloff before I went if I needed to be prepared to pay a deposit, and he said no deposit was needed.

Maybe if fully refundable (in writing) at any time. I wouldn't go much higher on a vehicle with such an unsure delivery date, unless you are all-in come what may. That money tied up is not working for you.

Depends on the dealer. It's their policy. It's basically in place to make you feel like you've committed in some way to this vehicle and don't go shopping around while you get antsy about it taking a while. For a Bronco, it's not a big deal because a dealership is more than happy to not sell it to you so that they can mark it up for another customer, but for "normal" car orders, it has more of a purpose. But dealerships usually just have a blanket policy for all orders.

Closest to me is asking for a $1200 non-refundable deposit. The one I went with is $500 refundable deposit. I have no issue with that.

I paid a $1000 non refundable deposit in addition to the $100 reservation fee. That $1100 will be applied to my down payment. I was fine with the non refundable deposit in exchange for a signed purchase order outlining my payments and total cost owed at delivery.

Paid $500 deposit upon ordering with dealer. Would have been refundable if I walked. Had signed MSRP deal in hand.

Either you're serious about buying one or you're not 🤷🏻‍♂️ That's how I look at it. Our dealer wanted 1k, we paid it because that's the vehicle we wanted.
I agree. Now I owe $2000 less when I get it. I would have put more down if I could get it quicker

Call your dealer back, ask them to confirm that they NEED $500 to place an order, wait for them to say "its our policy" or some other made up bullshit and then laugh maniacally and say you're switching dealers.
