Took delivery of my ‘23 Big Bend today with mod bumper. Missing the steel bash plate also. Crazy. Was also missing a trim piece on my rear drivers side door handle. Dealer said they will file a miss-build

Your talking to a bot. They arent realMy dealer requested a photo (I’m a couple hours away) to verify the incorrect skid. Then they said they can’t identify the incorrect skid with certainty so I’ll need to bring it in. So I offered to remove it myself and take photos of all sides and the part numbers. So, that’s where we’re at. I know I’d rather be disassembling parts of my bronco than driving it…
@Ford Motor Company how about some truth on this? Was it a honest (albeit repeated) mistake, or did you install these redesigned plastic skids while crossing your fingers in hopes that your customers (who paid for the metal skids) wouldn’t notice they were shorted? Do the benefits outweigh the costs if only a few of us notice this mistake and request a replacement? I shudder at the capitalist math happening among your top brass.
Ford built it that way on purpose, hoping that you wouldn't notice.Took home my 2023 basemansquatch with mod bumper, the the front bash plate and engine skid plate are both plastic. Dealer submitted a misbuild on the spot. We both laughed
I fully expect Ford to come back and say it was an update for MY23 and the B&P wasn’t accurate and also deny all the misbuilds the dealers are putting in.With each verified "misbuild", I think it is safe to assume that these aren't mistakes but rather deliberate. So far we have cases from OBX and below that are getting the upgraded plastic skid with modular bumper. Need to see if some WT builds are also "misbuilt".
For now, everyone opting for the modular bumper should be having their dealer double-check. The Black Diamond and Badlands shouldn't be affected. But with this upgraded plastic skid being accessible on the line, it is possible that it ends up on these trims also.
I'm fully expecting the update and the verbiage to change. But as long as the window stickers still emphasize the steel bash plate with the modular bumper, then buyers have a legitimate claim. B&P should never be used as an authoritative source as it has the disclaimer that it is only a marketing tool.I fully expect Ford to come back and say it was an update for MY23 and the B&P wasn’t accurate and also deny all the misbuilds the dealers are putting in.
Honestly, for many owners, those plastic plates are arguably better. I mean they will never in reality hit a rock on pavement with the plates, and the plastic will provide less weight and possible better fuel milage.Quick pics for proof, Base Sasquatch with mod bumper and you can see my fingers bending them down
Plasti-steel for the win... LOLHonestly, for many owners, those plastic plates are arguably better. I mean they will never in reality hit a rock on pavement with the plates, and the plastic will provide less weight and possible better fuel milage.
