I am admittedly a massive Ford super fan… and yet I 100% agree that the navigation systems Ford offers is stupid and confusing. Drives me insane. How Ford names their technology packages and safety features is probably my single biggest complaint about Ford these days.

And just for anyone who comes across this thread in the future, the navigation system is typically tied to the equipment package—not necessarily the model or trim level—on Ford vehicles. On the Bronco specifically… the Mid and High package comes with Connected Navigation, while the Lux package comes with Connected Built-in Navigation.

@jdawg has a Black Diamond, and Black Diamond isn’t available with the Lux package. Which is how I knew he only had the Connected Navigation system.

The reason why you have to pay a subscription for navigation is because it utilizes the AT&T cellular network to function, not unlike how the maps application on your phone functions. This is unlike the older GPS navigation systems, which had all of the maps pre-loaded into the GPS unit and it uses a GPS receiver to track your location on that map.
Thank you! Great explanation

Connected Built-in Navigation is not even available on the Mid package. Not sure where that screenshot is from. I’m guessing it is Build & Price. Wouldn’t surprise me if it is because for some reason Ford just can’t make Build & Price accurate—another pet peeve of mine.
You are correct that it does not come with the mid. But it looks like it is available for an extra $695 IF you have the mid.

I would have if I understood that there was a difference at the time I ordered. I mean re-ordered ;-)

Not that I am going to, but I wonder if it is possible to get after delivery.

Thanks for the info on Andriod Auto and Car play. I use those, and it is pretty much what I use for navigation. I am really asking about the ford nav system though. As I mentioned, I use built in nav for those times I am not able to connect.
There are apps that don’t need service to use the gps on your phone. They are mainly for orv and snowmobiling but I don’t see a reason it wouldn’t work while connected to your infotainment system.

This is what I needed to clear it up for me. Thank you. Had zero idea there were two nav systems offered. I guess was just naive thinking that navigation was all the same. Probably not alone there. idk..... I guess I just thought it being an off road vehicle, and the cost of said vehicle (48k for my build) navigation would be just that and connected would be the fluf. Maybe I did not know because it was model based and the BD was what I wanted from day 1.

And yes... The third option is okay. For me personally, I don't like it. A built in GPS saves from from planning to DL the maps to a phone.
Agree 1000% we payed MORE than enough to have a basic mapping system like even cheapo little Tupperware containers (what I call tiny plastic death trap cars) provide you with. I had thought paying for the service meant I’d get the special things I cared nothing about like live traffic updates, etc, not that I wouldn’t be able to use it for a simple route when “oh I guess I didn’t completely know where I was going” happens. 🤨 At the very least I think we payed more than enough to get a year’s worth of service, not three months….

Almost every major map app that works on Carplay/Android Auto supports offline maps these days. Just takes a few moments of foresight while you still have a cellular connection to grab the offline map data. I have almost the entire state of California saved on mine.

This includes Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps, the offroad apps, etc.

That said, I totally agree, the Connected subscriptions are ... disappointing and confusing.

I have a 1 year old 2024 Wildtrak with equip package 354A (High/Lux package). My nav just quit working and said I needed to renew my subscription. I couldn't even plug in an address (like 12 Main Street). Stupid.

But based on what I have seen online here and other sites, I should have a built-in nav, so should have been able to enter an address. Can anyone confirm the 354A package in 2024 had the built-in nav?

Sorry man. I am not a fan of it, myself.

Thanks. Guess I'll go to a Ford dealer next week and find out why my nav wouldn't work until I renewed the connected service (and also find out why the trial was only for a year)

On my 2024 Wikdtrak with Lux ordered 1/24 delivered 11/24 built in Nav was not available. I assume some chip cost cutting measures. I renewed the subscription even though I can use carplay and my Garmin Tread XL

Problem with that is cell reception is spotty in a lot of places around here. And I'm also not a big fan of Android Auto or Apple Carplay
