I've seen a few remarks here and there about bolt-on winch plates bending. I'm trying to decide if I want to swap my modular bumper out for one with an integrated winch mount, or just do a bolt-on. Personally I like the look of the OEM modular, and my plan was to grab a winch mount for it. Here are the options I recall:

  • Ford Performance - well thought out, mounts high, doesn't have a camera relocation solution (I don't have ACC), obviously you have to buy the WARN winch with it
  • JCR Mount - I read a couple threads where someone remarked this one bent, but I like the look fine
  • Turn Offroad - This one seems the most reasonable priced
  • RoughCountry - just not a fan of anything they make
Trying to avoid anything low-mount that will block airflow to the intercooler fins.

Well...I know alot of people don't like Rough Country for their own reasons, and I get them mostly. But, I'm a RC dealer and they were the first to market with a winch mount solution. I didn't like the hidden mount because it involves cutting on the frame, but I can personally vouch for the hi-mount one and combined with the Mountains2Metal camera relocation kit, works great and mounts solid (as long as you READ THE DIRECTIONS and mount it correctly) and does not interfere with airflow to the radiator. We live in triple digit heat in Oklahoma, and it did fine all summer long. I also load tested the winch and mount by winching out a JK buried in snow on Black Bear Pass while we were on vacation. And if you're worried about airflow, remember your PCM restricts airflow to the radiator at highway speeds no matter what.

I'm sure some of it is fine I'm still bitter about a tailgate table that arrived with Jeep instructions. Fitment and finish was absolutely horrible. I gave it away for free.

Yeah, I didn't like that either.

I ordered a BAMF winch bumper and a relocation kit for the Warn controller. It is fairly low profile and winch is in line with frame not above like OEM solution. Bumper has provisions for parking sensors and I won’t have to relocate camera. I will post pics when I receive/ install it.
