With respect I'm not sure the lack of interior space is something one looks at when buying a JL. This is a vehicle that you can drive right from the showroom floor onto an off road trail. Myself for one haven't have any problems with the interior space of my JL, but I didn't go in thinking I was buying an Explorer. If the Bronco is being designed to compete with the Jeep Wrangler I would think interior space isn't going to be at a maximum. To much interior space makes for a vehicle that's too fat for off roading.
Speak for yourself, interior volume and towing capacity are 2 major reasons I don’t want a wrangler

and with respect right back at ya …..I'll be doing absolutely no rock climbing and want a comfortable ride in my IFS Bronco ….. seems like 90% of this forum is off road/rock climbers, and ***THATS FINE !!***, more power to you guys but I'll be very happy with a soft riding, hopefully a little wider 4 door Bronco I can put in 4 wheel drive and get to work or to WaWa and get me some "starter fluid"(coffee) before I start shoveling snow or down to NJ and cruising the sand with my beach buggy like 90% of the Ford Bronco buyers will be. I still think they'll be trim levels that are gonna make everybody happy.

I'm with you and mountain roads and trails and forest roads aren't rock climbing. I have less expensive toys that will be used for that and they're much less expensive to fix with their plastic bodies and less expensive parts for rock climbing and riding for fun in the open air. There's not 90% rock climbers on here they just want a vehicle to do it all and feel they'll compromise without some of the features they want. When reality sets in they'll pick the one that suits their needs the best like all of us.

An Escape? Because frankly very, very few people need an SUV at all. People buy things like this because of what they theoretically could do with it or how it makes them feel.

There is a whole string of arguments I've seen you make like "not with a $50k+ vehicle" or "take the family on a long road trip" or "comfortable every day driver" and all of those things are what a crossover is for. Ford already sells those, lots of them, in different sizes and price ranges. Most of us want Bronco because it can be something, or go to places those kinds of vehicles aren't capable of. Maybe it won't be used that way every day, but it could, and knowing that will make people feel good -- that's what sells Wranglers too.

If people know their Bronco can't do those things or go those places ... people won't feel that way about it ... and Ford won't sell as many.

It seems this forum is divided into 2 groups.
The enthusiasts that are excited for the return of an icon, and finally another option to the Wrangler, which is a purpose built (off-roading) vehicle that can tackle daily life and discuss/debate what features and to what extremes would achieve that goal for them.

And then there’s the other group.

The group that destroy a mfg’s ability to build a purpose built vehicle.

You may want to reread some of my posts I stated that very thing just in a different fashion just because some of you don't understand what I wrote that's not my issue. Oh and before you go there I'm sure my language is just fine too. Get serious.

You're right tough crowd........it's easier to just go away and let it shake out on it's own. That way those that can't understand what's being said won't be offended.
Please save the BS posts about supposedly "not understanding", because others have a different opinion from you.
That's a great line for people to lazy to adequately prove their point.

Exactly. And to add to this, no one is saying Ford can't build a purpose-built vehicle. In fact, the IFS fans are actually MORE open to a stick axle option than vice versa. But you guys are the ones saying "EVERY BRONCO SHOULD HAVE A STICK AXLE AND RIDE LIKE SHIT" while we're being sensible and saying "we understand some might want more capability, and for those people, there should be the 'rock monster' that has a stick axle... however, for the 99% of people that don't want to crawl around on rocks, make the standard suspension choice IFS"

Don't forget that the "other group" PAYS for the ability of any manufacturer to build something more purpose built.
You can go buy an ICON Bronco anytime and get exactly what you want.

But, it you want one at a reasonable price, then compromises will be made to insure the "other group" finances the fact that you can even get close to an ICON rig at quarter the price.

STARTING PRICES:
Ford Bronco Bigger than the Explorer? 2020-01-13_8-19-46

Have at it.
or, suck it up that some Bronco's will be mall crawlers and will require AC and an Automatic.

No one, literally no one is saying anything close to that. Many of us who want the option for a solid axle simply get tired of the parade of people telling us to give up and just accept an IFS because it's too much to expect.

I hope you get an SFA. Market says otherwise.

Pretty much the only SUV in the US left with SFA is the Wrangler. The market has spoken.

https://www.caranddriver.com/features/g15377906/best-off-road-vehicles-suv-2020/?slide=11

"The G-class lost its solid front axle in its redesign, but it offers a respectable 9.5 inches of ground clearance and can wade through 27.6 inches of water."

That and the folks telling us that an IFS can be made just as capable and strong as a SFA.

No, it cannot. Not for anywhere near comparable dollars. Simply put, for what I use my trucks for, SFA all the way. the name of the game for what I do is tire size. And IFS simply cannot handle tires over 35" on a 5k+lb truck. Heavy Duty IFS like on the Chevies can't even hold the tire size I run on my F-250 with stock axles. I have every intention of the Bronco having 37" tires, because that is the minimum for ground clearance to keep from dragging the rear pumpkin. And no 1/2-ton IFS can handle 37" tires without constantly breaking shit, even with upgraded axles and joints.

As far as flex and articulation, they are bringing up KOH buggies and Side by Sides. WTH. Those things are in no way comparable to a production level truck! Yeah, why do you need that big V8 in your mustang? F1 cars do just fine with motors smaller than a bottle of coke. It is physically impossible for an (center mounted, mostly traditional) IFS to match the articulation of a solid front axle with a link suspension, which is more than street-able and modifiable on a production level rig.

And I don't want another desert runner rig, Ford has enough of those, and those are fairly easy to build out of a standard production IFS 2x4 or 4x4.

Granted, depending on dimensions, if there is no SFA option for the Bronco, I may look at swapping in a Troller front axle since they should be on the same frame.

Kind of, keeping it in the Ford family, the Explorer is a tire change away from being able to tackle everything you need. It also has a panoramic and fixed roof to mount different cargo racks and an open air experience.
The BabyBronco will also conquer those needs but it seems ego gets in the way of admitting a vehicle with Baby in the name fits the bill.
