It's a WT? So 21/22? There is an issue with the reservoirs rusting and falling off these years (I don't think 23's are as affected, and of course the Fox's that also come in WT's 22/23). It's been reported multiple times. They're not great shocks. Recommend the Bilstein 6100's if you're not too put off by it (most seem to blame Ford's probably chintzy design specs and lack of quality corrosion protection, since Bilstein makes a lot of good shocks).

Not getting covered under extended 100k mile warranty. Both rear shocks are totally shot. 41.5k miles. This is definitely at def

Are those the OEM ones? I hear Ford bid them down for cost. I have non-SAs, was hoping to go with their 6112s

Ford Bronco BILSTEIN SHOCKS Destroyed 1719940085394-tt

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll face some clapback. But the Bilstein reservoir shocks are junk. They were built to a price point to Ford's specifications. You all fell for the bright color yellow and being able to point out your rEsErVoIrS at the Cars and Coffee as some instantaneous off-road cred. The only ones that benefited were those who recognized the design deficiency and offloaded them on unsuspecting buyers.

I think you'll enjoy those a lot more. The ESC-V's are ok performance-wise but I'd rather have something nicer maybe in a year if they last.

Yeah, you can bet your ass my Hitachis will last forever!!!!
Didn't even have to pay extra for them!!

Unfortunately, the plan is to change out to some good ones with a lift whenever they wear out .....

What would a good replacement be for a badlands?
The Bilstein 6100's (6112's for non-Sas) or the Eiback Pro Truck 2.0 I think are fairly straight forward installs (the 6100's keep the geometry the same AFAIU). Of course there's a lot of other options, but these are what I'd look at when going with new shocks and wasn't going bonkers (8100s or Kings/ADS).

Out of curiosity how did you know the shocks were done? Besides visually looking terrible, does the ride start to get bumpy, etc?

I've heard both "started sagging" (seems like in back more often) or "my oil change guy told me" cuz they didn't notice.

Is the issue mainly related to corrosion between the tubes- which would be a trapped area for salt to be retained, and they fell apart........or failure of the shock of the shock itself?

One of the main selling features for me to get Sasquatch was Bilstein shocks. I have been using them on trucks, Jeep Wranglers for years and also on the last 2 Miata Clubs without ever an issue.
