You cannot get a steel bumper on the Willys from the factory...
There are plenty of aftermarket costs to get the Willys in shape.

Yes I am/was also .. its terrible they only offer a V6 pentastar that has the belt driven etourque not sure how reliable that design is ? .. Makes the 2.7 Bronco even better ...I'm cross-shopping the same 2 cars...
Bronco (two door) can tow 1000lbs moreI am also doing this comparison, though only as a 2-door. Keep in mind, I have no interest in a V-6 or Sasquatch. MGV and wash-out interior is a huge plus for the BD over the Willys, with the massive caveat that the BD may in reality only have wash out footwells if the cargo and seat backs have that awful carpet, which lowers how usable that feature is. Willys gets the bonus of having tumble forward and quick remove rear seating, which makes the rear cargo area much more usable/flexible than the BD's fold "flat", with a large step.
Another point in the Willys column is that the interior packages are much more flexible and customizable. You can pick and choose safety, tech, and convenience separately whereas BD forces you to choose it all in one package that arbitrarily shoves you out of the manual transmission. Since myself and many others are deadset on a manual, the Jeep is offering more in that area.
The prices for each are nearly identical, so for me:
Black Diamond
New hotness
More comfortable road suspension
MGV seats
Washout interior (or just footwells)
More factory accessories
Willys
Better cargo modularity
Better color options
Better looking wheels (opinion)
More flexible and logical package combinations
More top options
Caveat: I am aware you can take either of these and modify them with aftermarket to suit whatever purpose. But keep in mind, these are both aimed at people who don't want to spend a more for a Badlands or a Rubicon and are likely more budget minded. Buying a brand new 40k car and then spending thousands to modify it right away isn't quite as appealing.
You're spot on. I found the same questions & hesitation with that Jeep.Yes I am/was also .. its terrible they only offer a V6 pentastar that has the belt driven etourque not sure how reliable that design is ? .. Makes the 2.7 Bronco even better ...
Is this the regularly scheduled maintenance?Jeep has 3 yr free maint and some finance plans last time I looked.

Will 33's fit the BD when it's time to replace? This is subjective, but I think the Willys is a little better looking vehicle. I think this comes from a few things:
1.) The Bronco is a bigger and "boxier" vehicle, so it really needs bigger tires.
2.) The tires that they put on the Willys look awesome
3.) I like the wheels on the Willys better
I've been paying more attention to Jeeps, and I've noticed that they look pretty good even with small/non-aggressive tires. I don't think this is the case with the Bronco. I think it really needs aggressive 33s or 35s.
Definitely with a a leveling kit. Will 33's fit the BD when it's time to replace?

Compare current '23 Black Diamond to the '24 Wrangler Willys and it's a different picture.
I've been doing the same research as the OP for quite a while now. My preference is a Bronco as my F150 has been a really good vehicle; so, why not a Bronco.
Bronco and Wrangler each have their problems. Treat that as an equalizer for the moment.
The basics are there for each vehicle. Specifically, skid plates and a locker for example.
But man have prices changed! Order a Willis from a below invoice dealer and there is a price advantage over the Black Diamond (given MSRP only and not ADM).
It can be a tough call.
