I should have taken all of the reports regarding the cheap ass windshields Ford uses for the Bronco seriously. My Big Bend has 2 major cracks from debris while driving on highway home. What a waste of money this purchase was. Less than 5,000 miles. My advise, DO NOT buy a Bronco unless you own a glass company.

Unfortunate sbasham82... living in Vegas I have to say, shit happens on the freeways around here. Not sure it's a Bronco thing, this has happened to many of my rides, from BMWs to Prius to GTI. Gotta be a bad combo of debris all around town and high highway speeds

I've never had any problem including windshields, and that's with two Broncos.
I suggest you sell your Bronco, because I doubt you'll ever be happy with it. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

"Broken Dreams" is the title of your first thread, really? Deep breaths, no point in getting so worked up and emotional, it'll be ok.

That said, welcome to the group! There's a lot of very knowledgeable people on here and this forum is a great resource. Also, just ignore all the naysayers.

Congrats on earning your first badge! And since you don't have a profile pic yet, maybe consider using it.

Has nothing to do with quality of the glass, it is the angle and flatness of the windshield. Jeeps have the same problem only worse.

I got my first rock chip at 14k and another 12k or so miles being flat towed behind my motorhome.

Geez the first thing that crossed my mind looking at the bronco windshield at purchase compared to my f150 was I’ll stay back from vehicles that may fling rocks to avoid them hitting this erect windshield rock catcher , not a crack yet 15000 miles , and I didn’t want to be a whiny bitch complainer due to my ignorance

This was almost as entertaining as the guy over on the Ford Truck forum complaining that he got ED ads.

I got a crack within the first 3 weeks of ownership of my new Bronco however I also understood coming into it that that is the reality of box shaped trucks with upright windshields. I don't think that the rock chips people are getting has anything to do with Ford's windshield quality. Although there are plenty of other valid quality control issues with Ford...

I love these complaints about the cheap Ford windshields. Unfortunately, the windshields are regulated by our friends in Washington and are tested to a specific standard. Otherwise, they might just end up being 2 mil black plastic.

Personally, I’m more upset about all the bugs that feel my windshield is the place they feel they have to commit suicide. Obviously, the OP doesn’t drive at night. The bugs don’t make long streaks, just deep spots where their butt hole penetrates their brain. Rocks aren’t any smarter and are harder.

Stop following people closely. Stop riding next to or behind tractor trailers or any trailer. It’s an upright flat windshield, things happen. Got a star on mine the second week but fixed it with the rain x windshield repair kit. Still good a year later
Well-said. Anybody that has driven vehicles like this should know the price to pay for an essentially vertical windshield subjected to both on and off-road hazards. In the past 25 years, I've probably had six windshields replaced on my Wranglers. These vehicles are taller, with a flatish, upright windshield - often meaning that it will catch rocks due to the increased capture area.

An upright A-pillar part of the design philosophy of vehicles like the Wrangler and the Bronco. It's unarguably attractive, but the pluses are that it introduces less distortion while increasing overall visibility for the driver in less-than-ideal circumstances. Jeep enthusiasts learn from experience. We will too.

Hints: if you see a "chip and seal ahead" sign ahead, find another route. Keeping your distance from other vehicles where possible - especially gravel trucks - is smart. Because of your height and your windshield angle, you NEED to be farther back. It's safer anyway.

Be part of the solution: put proper mud flaps on your Bronco in consideration of the guy in back of you.

Life deals us blows, man.
