Kind of a shot in the dark but has anyone used an RTA to test the audio ranges from the different speakers? I am inclined to believe that just switching the speaker type in forscan can give you a full range, but I would really like to know if there’s any benefits to hooking up more than high level input signal

Guess I’m going to have to eq out that roll off at 16 k when I instal my 3 way this weekend. Thanks for the info
Let us know how it goes, curious if your results end up better than mine were.

Some of the Forscan changes @MOBRONCO made to in this post actually turned off the factory EQ (seems he was largely guessing and checking at the time so it wasn't 100% accurate, but really good work). The fact that it doesn't remove that roll-off makes me think it may be an amplifier limitation and not some arbitrary setting in software. But either way, I tried to EQ that roll-off with a DSP and it sounded like complete garbage.

Forscan values are here, if you need them. Really probably will only want to turn off the EQ, but play around with it. If you figure it out... I may switch my budget setup over to a 3-way.

I have been gradually upgrading the entire system over the last 6 months. The highs just weren’t good enough with the audio frog gs42 so I finally gave in and bought the Mti dash thing and a focal KX3E k2 3 way. Once I get it installed I’ll post some pictures from REW and see what I’m working with

I’m focal all the way around connected to a musway 6 channel DSP, Got rid of the back speakers completely because I felt they added nothing of value, added a 10 hertz Millie pro 250 s2 tailgate mounted connect to a musway one 600 amp and re wired all the speakers with 12 gauge wire in case I want to throw more power around at some point. It’s been a long process and I started out with the kicker key 4 channel and audio frog speakers

Are you talking about bass roll off? At what volume setting does that happen?

The roll-off above 16,000 - 17,000 Hz.

With a factory audio setup and a two-way setup the factory range (25 - 17,000 Hz) is perfectly fine honestly. But @Sluggz is installing a three-way setup that could really benefit with having frequencies above 17,000 Hz. (Human audio range for most working-age adults maxes out around 20,000 Hz.)

The bass roll-off you are referring to is a ~300 Hz high-pass filter that Ford has applied to the rear pod speakers from the factory. Typically you would apply some sort of high-pass filter to smaller speakers (like the factory 4" pods) since they cannot reliably reproduce lower frequencies. Which seems to be exactly what Ford has done with the factory config.

HI ragnarkon. So I'm installing a aftermarket sub in my non b&o big bend. Do you know if it's smarter to tap into the front kicker speaks or the factory subwoofer wiring to get the least amount of bass roll off, do you think flattening the eq will help with it or is the only way to get it to not have base roll off is to use a kicker key loc. Thank you.

We were talking about speakers in this thread, not the subwoofer.

If you are installing aftermarket sub you should just use the factory subwoofer wiring (if you have a 2023+. If you have a 2021-2022 Bronco... use the signals from the kick panel speakers.
