My Bronco has mud caked all over it - pretty thick in some spots too and a lot of it has hardened. It's actually worse than in this particular photo.

What are the steps that you would take, including products and chemicals, to wash this thing and make it look showroom fresh again? And what's the best way to wash the undercarriage?

I have a ceramic coat on it so I'm sure some steps would not be necessary, such as clay bar, polish, etc.

Could leaving mud on it for a long period of time (how long?) cause any damage to the ceramic coat or paint?

Thanks!

Start with a self-serve touchless car wash. If you have ceramic coating, I would think most of it would come off pretty easily. I know mine does.

Power washer and a water broom (can be flipped to do undercarriage washes).
Soak it all top to bottom first, with plenty of water, before you start spraying anything with high pressure. Get it all super soft and muddy.

Work your way through the different nozzles, start with the lowest pressure and get what you can off of the truck, slowly work your way up to higher pressures and avoid getting too close to the truck or any kind of weather stripping.

If you play in the mud regularly (I do), buy a pressure washer and quit paying someone to use theirs ;)

You're in for a long clean. Have fun, put some headphones on, and get'r done.

For the undercarriage, did this after Raptor trips and it works the best, use a lawn sprinkler. The kind that goes back and forth, not around in circles. Place under the truck and let it soak, the dirt/mud will just fall off.

Okay how about something like this?
  1. Soak the entire vehicle, slowly increasing the strength of the pressure washer.
  2. Foam entire vehicle and let it sit for a few minutes.
  3. Spray down vehicle with pressure washer to get all the foam off.
  4. Hand wash the entire vehicle using the two bucket method.
  5. Spray down vehicle again with pressure washer.
  6. Dry vehicle with towel.

Blast the big stuff off. Not in the driveway or car wash. I usually do mine in the lawn. Dude at the car wash has to clean that out of the pit. Kind of a dick move. After the big stuffs off just use a good soap and mitt or foam cannon first and mitt. Do the 2 bucket method. One with your soap and water, then the second with water. After you wash each panel put it in the water bucket and shake it, dip in the soap bucket after that and repeat.

Start at the top. Do a section at a time. Keep the truck wet, don’t let it dry as you go. Back spray if needed.

Sliders, wheels, and bumpers last. Get a separate mit or rag for those. Do not cross wash with the mitts.

Get out of my garage!!!!! She’s not dirty enough to wash yet!

Like they say. Spinning ain’t winning. I won the cleanest bronco award for Snowfest.

I fixed #6 for you -- never use dry microfiber to absorb water. You'll have an annoying time that will end in swirls and tears. Damp microfiber absorbs more water than dry microfiber. Get it wet, wring it out, soak up some water on the car (using a drying aid/light mist of detail spray), then wring it out again.

Your setup is pretty sick! Got links for your roof rack and lights?
Thanks!!! Yea she's come long way. The roof rack is OEM and have a 40" rigid slim attached to it.
