Then why not a regular cab pick up with a cap on the bed if you don't need the doors or seats.....I guess that's where I can't wrap my head around the idea of a large SUV with only 2 doors
Not wanting to make this a 2DR vs 4DR thread, but think of it as a modern version of the old Pontiac Grand Prix/Ford Thunderbird personal luxury coupes. (personal utility vehicle?). You want the room, but not the look (or need) of 4DRs.

I like it.... Would be nice to have that extra space back there. I have no need to haul people around, but that would be nice to camp in if the seat folded down flat.

I just don't get the appeal of a larger 2 door SUV
Same reason people liked the full size broncos of the 80s/90s. More cargo space, seats 5 instead of 4...

Nope. not climate controlled
Why would you want or need whatever it is you're hauling in that extra space that doesn't have seats, to be climate controlled?

Child safety laws frown upon throwing your kids in the bed of a truck unbuckled.

Hey, I did that when I was a kid. Laws be damned. PLUS, he said he'd take the seats out.

I know you guys always talk about your approach and departure angles blah blah blah.. But in the case, the location of the rear axle just looks ugly.
I'd take the normal 2 door and just extend the back end for the extra space. Like the 80's & 90's Bronco. Does everyone really think that every single Bronco is going off road and needs it to be short? I think not.

here's a little less extreme...half way, ignore the extra "seam", i think it is proportionally better than the actual 2-door given the hood length

Thats awesome, I wold buy that over the four door. You get the room and the two door looks. Best of both worlds.

Just gonna chalk this up to something I don't get/won't ever get lol. The full size Bronco, K5 Blazer, 2 door Tahoe hell even the 2 door Explorer Sport I just never understood the appeal of them and they never did anything for me.

I suppose it's a matter of personal opinion. Personally I feel the longer two door reminds me of the cars from back in the early 1970s with the giant long hoods and trunks. They bring up bad memories of waiting in long lines for gas. Just bloated and wrong. But each to their own.
