I was in Puerto Rico for several years. Cows and horses roam the streets all the time. Horses are considered public transportation in PR.

At every Military installation I've been at you're responsible for the herd animal and (depending on where and gender) a certain number of generations after.

I wonder if it's the same on public roads or is it considered at the fault of the rancher because the herd animal got out of the fence?

Ouch! I wonder if the ford bull bar would have made a difference preventing the cow
from impacting the soft vulnerable bits of the bronco.

I suspect the old low tech ARB bullbat/winch bumper on my old LR would have fared better since it's all welded together (not bolted together)

I couldn’t see it that damaged. I did a couple of quick zip-tie fixes until the insurance claim is done. The real damage is the cooling system and plastic bits. The cow stood up after laying on the ground for a good 20 mins. The owner took it out back so I’m guessing it’s veal by now. Break vs brakes always gets me!

A bull bar would’ve definitely helped protect the cooling system. I definitely need better lighting. The Sig headlights by themselves are not enough.

I forgot to add these pics of the broken plastic bits:

Any Cow is more useful and valuable than a Dependapotamus or Dependasaurus

At least the Cow won't waste your money on multi-level marketing schemes, scented candle side gigs or empty your savings while your deployed.

Plus you got the milk, butter and eventual Steaks going for you which is nice

Even scooters are fun to ride if you don't tell your friends... or give them access to the bank account... or take them to any public events...

Second thought, I'd rather buy the cow I hit.

I remember when my wife first encountered average military spouses at a unit event. She asked why are so many men that are in better than average shape have so many wives that are so sub-average? (AKA fat and ugly, she's too nice to say it though) I couldn't stop laughing and she was sincere. I had to explain the whole Dependapotamus thing to her.
