@James118 , it appears your going to have to take (or tow) it to another dealer and get a second opinion. If you want this done right, it's looking like this dealership is not going to make it that happen...
I would think a brand new transmission from Ford would be better then a dealer repair?

As Ducati is trying to tell you, not necessarily. Based on you description, the dealer you are using has a basic competency issue (a lack there of), and/or are just cycling through whole transmission replacements because $, instead of doing the less profitable work of the TSB that would actually address your complaint.

Also, a "brand new" transmission install requires a whole lot of competent work/knowledge on the part of the tech's doing the work, which again (based on your description) the dealer you are using does not appear to have. Indeed, I give it a 50/50 chance your vehicle will be worse off then before the work...

Depends on the dealer really, or more so the transmission technician at the dealer.

I’m 100% confident my rebuilt transmissions are better than some of the stuff I’ve seen Ford build lol

Either way, there’s no way to know how it will turn out until it does. I hope this one fixes all the issues and you never have to worry about it again.

Thank you for clarifying, would Ford corp not have the say in this?

I'm on my second dealer to date since the first one could not find and issue with the first grinding transmission even with a recall against it. So your saying take it to another dealer who will take the current one apart and rebuild it.

Diagnosis and repair is up to the dealer. Ford doesn’t typically step into that unless something requires prior approval.

Got to talk live today to the service guy and picking up the bronco later today. He mentioned Ford has still not approved anything and the dealership is still waiting to order parts. No plan or timeline to share with me.

Will try and drive it till the parts come in.

There is nothing more frustrating then being left in the dark. Three calls into the dealer with no calls back. Decided to call the service manager and expressed my concerns. She addressed them and has laid out a timeline etc. It goes out Monday and should be back on Friday if all goes right.

I also opted to pay to have the clutch replaced out of pocket incase we decide to keep the bronco since much of it was opened up. Still questioning if that was the right move in my head.

Well, what's that background? Do you have many many miles on it, or do you tend to use the clutch to hill hold, or did you teach your child to drive a manual and they burned up 3/4 of it in the process, or did you put a tune on it that makes in excess of 400 ft lbs of torque?

If 'no' to the above or similar, I would question the decision as well.

I read your thread, you mentioned ita 22 sas but I didn’t see mileage…

I am not aware if there is an opening in the bell-housing for inspection… don’t think there is one.

Seems you now have a supportive dealer, if so when they get into it they will know right then if its needed… same for the hydraulic throw out bearing.

Better to have them and not need them then wait for the parts to come in. May want to ask dealer IF they stock the clutch, pressure plate and hydraulic throw out…. ???

If not needed that day you have them or the next owner if you sell later.

I have found myself on each side of the fence and have some parts on my garage shelf… but them parts today are $$$

36K on the bronco as of today and from driving it does not need a clutch. I thought since it's open it would be the right move. My son can drive just fine! Nothing but a stock Bronco with a stereo upgrade.

These things are not well built and I know better but the idea of the Bronco as a car guy pushed me to get it for him. I wanted him to have a good experience with his first car but that does not seem to be the result

Dropped it off today with it missing 3rd gear. Service guy once again mentioned that these broncos are a problem and I would most likely need another at some point which makes me feel great!

They said one week so will see if that's real or not.

Got the the call today that the bronco was finished. While picking it up and paying the service manager grabbed me. She wanted to talk through the bill and answer any questions I might have. This went well as she explained the process with Ford more in depth.

On the way home the bronco felt good driving and was smooth through the gears. Some light smell after getting in the driveway at home (12 miles) but that's expected.

My understanding Ford paid $4500 for the transmission and labor. Not sure if that would be my price or it's their rate. As mentioned I had the the clutch replaced at $274, flywheel $478, bearing $8 and bolts $31. Add in labor and my bill with tax was $1047. Not excited about the extra spend but I'm good knowing everything is new.

Now I need to get with Ford and see about extending the powertrain since it's been an all around bad experience to date.

The first transmission made that marble rolling around noise. This one works perfectly except for 3rd gear. It grinds every time going in and does that dance you see in the video. It started as an occasional grind into 3rd and then started to push the shifter back at you. Not it’s a grind each time and the dance.
I just brought my 2024 7MT to the dealership for this, 3rd got bad, only 23K miles...
