They've been doing that for ages, where have you been bro?
Not everyone has owned or driven a vehicle made in the last decade with a cap-less system.

It seemed like a valid question (that was already answered in a previous thread as @ZackDanger pointed out).

Does anyone know how this capless system holds up to dust, dirt, water, etc intrusion?

I'm guessing ford has this figured out since they have been using this system on their trucks for a few years now.
My 2019 F150 has a rubber seal on the fuel door that seals out any dust water. There's still a metal or plastic flap at the filler neck that closes too.

Did I see somewhere that the Bronco will have the hcapless gas fill?
Sounds like you haven't had this feature before. Welcome to progress. "I sure wish I had a screw-on cap for my gas tank," said no one ever. 😄

I think as long as the fuel filler door doesn't go under water (that's surely deeper than 33.5"), you'll be fine.

I knew I had seen a better picture somewhere but couldn’t find it. As usual @ZackDanger to the rescue! I don‘t know how you do it, but I admire your ability to always have a a quick answer and a link/picture to back it up. Many thanks to you sir!
My pleasure!

My brain is wired for pattern recognition and photographic memory... which means I can just kind of close my eyes and picture the image and I can remember where I saw it... which in this case was in a keypad thread...

...then it's just a matter of navigating the forum's garbage search system....

...and of course spending all my free time here helps too.

;)

I work in construction and my vehicle is stored outside all day in the elements. Dust and dirt among other things gets everywhere. I’ve had 0 issues with this. My vehicle will be 6 years old in May

That's true, I'm just used to it being universal by now and congrats @Xploit , you're gonna love it!

Sorry, I have a bit of a blunt, abrasive nature with my comments

As I was filling my tank yesterday in the bitter cold, I thought to myself, damn, wouldn't it suck to have a gas cap again? One thing to note, you need the Ford filler tube to add gas with a gas can. It is extremely difficult to fill any other way. I have never lost mine, but stopped to help someone without it (I was in a rental, non-Ford, I think) and we could not get anything to work with the gas can. Sure enough, my sons 2020 still uses it, so apparently no change to that aspect of the design yet.

Good to know! Is that something that comes included with the vehicle?

Yep, it's usually with the spare or jack in the case of a pickup and under bed mounted spare.

This is one of the small things I'm looking forward too. We got a few Fords in our work fleet and we beat the snot out of them and rack up insane miles so they're at the pumps a lot. Zero issues.

I won't miss holding onto my Jeeps cap since I took the little tether off years ago to stop it from scuffing the paint, or the snow and slush packing into the opening since there's no door.
