Is there any experience with the various spare tire mounted cargo carriers out there?

I'm just looking for something to carry some lightweight items inside waterproof roll-top bags on occasion for longer trips.

I'm looking at:

JCR Offroad Spare Tire Utility Basket.
https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/UNI-STB.html

Price, shipped: $381.65
Dimensions: 43"x13"
Weight: 25lbs
COO: Portage, MI, USA

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn Offroad Universal Spare Tire Cargo Rack
https://turnoffroad.com/collections...e-tire-storage-rack-offroad-ice-chest-carrier

Price, shipped: $299.00
Dimensions: 42"x14"
Weight: Unknown
COO: Unknown

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any experience with either or both of these? I lean towards the JCR, but an open to all options, including others I'm not aware of.

Thanks!

Have you looked at the American Adventure Lab MASS Spare Tire Platform? This is the one I have, it works great and I love it. It is customizable and has a lot of different carrying options. It’s a bit pricey, but it is very high quality.

I don’t have one, but I would go with @Turn Offroad ’s option. They make top quality products and some of the best customer service I’ve seen. They can probably speak to the weight capacity. I highly recommend their products as I have their hard top and half roof rack, with the tailgate reinforcement bracket and Rotopax bracket en route.

I know you mentioned putting lighter stuff in it, but I’d still recommend a tailgate reinforcement bracket. That tailgate has enough weight on it already.

I probably will, eventually. But I'm not thinking this will carry much or any more than I would carry in my backcountry hunting pack, which was 68lbs.

If you have any questions regarding our rack please let us know! Ours weighs 30 lbs, is made of steel, and the capacity is really more dependent on your tailgate capacity than anything else. Thanks for your interest in our product!

Rock Slide Engineering. I mounted Rotopax to it. I didn't want to compromise my rear visibility.
