I’ve owned two mustangs three F150’s and an expedition and never had a chipped or cracked windshield. Nor did I have any noticeable pitting. I could argue Ford windshields have always been notoriously strong.
i have owned 10 or more Fords and all have experienced the same issues but I live in the desert so that is probably why mileage gone vary

I’m in AZ where all windshields have dings, and I know I’m screwed.

My 2013 Jetta has had two windshields in 135K miles. I put 2 windshields in a Jeep TJ, two in a YJ (one split the windshield in half vertically). Our 2017 Golf has had 1 windshield, my step-son’s F350 needs a windshield.. In other words, windshields break. They are GLASS. Rocks, bolts, and assorted other stuff hit them. Just have good glass coverage insurance- after all, Safe-lite repair, Safe-lite replace!

I opted for full glass coverage on my auto insurance policy. So far I have 2100 miles and haven't had to use it though. I put Rain-X on it thinking it might help but I know it's unlikely to prevent damage if a rock were to hit. I will say, it happens with other manufacturers as well. I had a Honda minivan when the kids were younger and it's windshield cracked once or twice yearly it seemed lol

Honestly I go through a windshield about every 2 years. I even had one on a Mustang simply crack one August when I made the mistake of leaving my windows rolled up all the way.

There are many variables to take into consideration when comparing when and where a windshield cracks. The obvious one being the angle of the bronco windshield. Other examples being where you drive it ex. If it's your daily driver, do you take a freeway or highway to work, Is there loose gravel where you are driving, how close are you to the car in front of you... Once I get mine I'm opting for full glass insurance.
