I’m considering full body XPEL PPF. I’m close to their HQ where they do installs and collabs and train other installers. Why not go directly to the source?

I’m wondering if anyone has experience with XPEL, either installed from them directly or another installer. Did you get the whole vehicle wrapped?

I’m considering the full wrap. I do plan on taking the hardtop off somewhat frequently (I have twice this month). I’m curious from real world experience how it holds up on both the top panels, doors and body going through multiple removals and reinstalls.

Also, how does it look around decals? I have the 60th anniversary stripe and he said it would have a slight air gap around the decal.

I do plan on some light off-roading about half a dozen times or so each year. My son would say sissy-trails 🤣… nothing where I’m going to risk rolling, but I will be out exploring the Hill country and TX trails. More than a mall crawler, but the Sasquatch is admittedly overkill. Still, between that and the constant construction in TX, I think paint protection is necessary or accepting repaints is a given.

Any experience, recommendations or regrets with XPEL or other PPF is appreciated!

I am a firm believe in the benefits of PPF and Xpel is my "go to" with any vehicle I've owned over the past several years.

I have the Xpel Ultimate Plus on my Bronco. I love the self healing capabilities of this product.

I did not get full coverage as I don't have the budget for that. I have it about 18" on the front of the hood and the sides of the front fenders to match, the windshield surround, the rocker panels, and part way up the doors to the door indents.

If you do apply over decals I've been told by the installers you'll likely end up with air pockets.

If you're going to move ahead with it however, make sure you find a reputable shop because if you go for the best price alone you're going to be very disappointed.

There are a lot of hacks out there purporting to be professionals and if you're not careful you'll end up cuts in your paint and lifting edges everywhere.

Thank you.

If I do it, I will have it done by XPEL directly. I expect the people who make the product and train other installers on the product will stand behind the install.

I wonder if I can have the decal removed and installed over the PPF to avoid the air pockets? I assume I’d have to purchase new decals for this. I wonder if Ford will sell them.

The shop that did mine (full body except for the MIC top) used to used XPEL, but has since moved to STEK. Their reasoning was that they were seeing yellowing over time.

I’m not being critical of XPEL, just giving you another piece of information.

As for having it done, I am a big fan. Mine was done over a year ago and I’ve been extremely pleased. I also got the windshield film installed.

The film they applied on mine is infused with ceramic. I can almost hose most of the dirt off and after almost a year and a half, I don’t have one stone chip or scratch.

As for the decals, they removed them and reapplied the decal over the film. And they cut around the decal on the hood of my WildTrak.

Good luck! I’m a big fan of PPF.

Just finished getting my XPEL PPF on the windshield… if it prevents more than one cracked windshield, you are money ahead. Next vehicle in the garage to get it is my iX BMW….

I have SunTek Ultra Defense. 11 mil thickness. After 3 years, 77k miles, and lots of Arizona trails, my paint still looks new. The self healing properties are amazing. After a really brushy trail, it just takes a couple of warmer days or a hair dryer and all the gouges and marks disappear. Highly recommend.

I did a full Xpel PPF on my bronco (including most of the painted top) & my GX. No complaints at all, but my rigs are garaged kept so no idea about yellowing over time. I highly recommend you do ceramic on top of the PPF, so easy to wash the trucks. STEK was fairly at the time new and my shop is married to Xpel, but did hear STEK is supposed to be a step above? But that is just what I heard, no idea if that's true?

Well, I couldn't tell you about yellowing since it would be hard to notice on my particular color, but I've loved it. It'll be 5 years this fall, and it's holding on great.

PPF WTW but, don’t install over vinyl. But new decals and have them applied on top of the PPF - and, then go with a decent Ceramic Coat to top it all off!

Just to add to what I've already said about Xpel.

Another forum member mentioned yellowing over time. That was not my experience but I know life in the sun belts area differs greatly from me in southern Ontario.

My previous vehicle was a pickup truck and I had Xpel Ultimate plus on the front leading edge of the hood, front portion of the fenders, the nose and front bumpers, rocker panels and a third of the way up the sides/doors.

I garaged it and also don't live in a sun belt region but when I traded it in after 8 years the PPF was still in mint condition. My truck was white so any yellowing is easy to notice.

I thonk yellowing was early PPF. If I had to park outside in sunbelt Id use a lightweight car cover.....use when go camping etc just to prtect against acidic bird droppings.

I have full Xpel and highly recommend it. Strongly recommend you reconsider cutting around the decals. If you are that attached to a paper sticker on the side of your Bronco apply new ones after the full Xpel. The same goes for things like keypad locks- remove and reapply- don't cut around.

I did Xpel Armor PPF everywhere except for the tailgate & did a ceramic coat on top. To me it was well worth it, especially on a darker vehicle
