Could this be modified to be a hard top lift?

My thought with an engine hoist.
  • It has to be modified -- made taller.
  • I would fabricate a post that bolts/welds to the very bottom frame and mount the rest on top of that. (look at the pic you posted of the engine hoist - it's bolted at the very bottom; IE easily removable and modified)

Or, by replacing the lower boom with a 6 or 7ft section to raise the height of the upper boom so you could drive underneath. This would retain the ability to roll it around if need be.

Oops, totally missed your post, but very similar ideas.
I figure if it is only used to lift an 80lb top, just adding the booster post to the bottom would be far easier than re-fabbing an entire 7ft main post.

Never even considered a wall mount version!
I wouldn't personally do that but very feasible!
Great idea!

I will say I really like Ford's design for the Bronco top with it being 4 pieces. So much simpler to take off than my Jeep, especially when you get to the rear shell. It's not that the Jeep rear shell is hard to take off but that the Jeep rear shell is just unwieldy and awkward with the big overhang piece. And, that's where the hoist with the Jeep becomes so much more important than the Bronco.
