Got my electric hoist setup complete for my 4-door hardtop. Really happy with how it all turned out. The hoist is from Harbor Freight and is the 440lb capacity one. The tow straps are 1”x8’, and work just fine and rated accordingly. I may switch to 7’ length to try to pick up a few more inches in height. I also added a separate safety strap & hook in the rare case the hoist were to fail and drop the load (it’s the thicker yellow strap at the top). The cross bar you see pictured was critical to help keep the load distributed evenly and level. I also added a couple black bungees as guy wires to help keep it from wanting to turn/spin, which were also critical.

Let me know if anyone has anymore specific questions on my setup.

There is a system with rollers and that channel you can use to move the hoist around if need be. Mine is fixed though.
Just did it

Here's my harbor freight tools set up

I will post parts and install when I get back home 😊

That‘s really slick! I have a super low ceiling with about 12” between the Hardtop and the ceiling with no access above for hidden winch stuff. I’m going to try a ratchet strap/screw eye setup later this week 🤞

I finished mine up towards the end of the summer last year. I used deep strut and threaded rod and aluminum studs to make a floating shelf as my fail safe - also gives me more support to store the other parts of the top as well.

I don't have the specific part numbers but....
I used
Electric hoist from harbor freight
2 straps 6.5 ft hall master harbor freight
1/4" cable from lowes and the U bolts
Some casters from lowes
The H was made with 1/2" black steel pipe, fittings and insulation foam for water pipes

Here's some pictures

I've used it probably 15 times with no problems.

I removed the top 3 weeks ago and it's been on the hoist for that long
