Diode dynamics ditch light QUESTION

I'm trying to install diode dynamics stage series ss3 ditch light kit for 2021+ ford bronco. The question I have is what is this red end for wiring the harness.

I went through videos of install and they never talk about the red end.

Did you get Backlit option? Assume connect to fuse to give that option.

No I didn't get black light option. I have the auxiliary switches on my black diamond.

Both ends of the harness has the extra red plastic end point for the ditch lights but I have no idea what the reason why I have it. Do I just hook it up and not worry about it?

Update hooked it up without worrying about that extra wire. Works good

That is for the backlight. 4 pin harness is for lights with backlight. The SS3s without the backlight are a 2 pin harness and don’t have the extra wire. You don’t have to use the backlight but it did cost extra to have it.

You can hook the extra wire to another aux switch if you have one not in use and then you can turn on the backlight whenever you want. The sticker on the box will tell you what color the backlight is. It will have a 3 letter code ending in BL. First letter is the color.

Diode Dynamics also has a video showing how you can just t tap the red wire into your headlight harness so it backlights automatically and you don't have to use up another aux switch. It works great.

I'm assuming you didn't get the ditch kit we offer? As the kit we offers comes with an easy to use plug and play harness.

If you got it from Diode Dynamics, then you got a lot of extra harnesses you don't need. They provide multiple connectors in the box so depending on your setup it's different.

If you got SS3 without a back-lit, you need a DT 2-pin connector and then it's just red and black. But their harness has a switch and/or the option to remove the switch and install a pigtail to the upfitters.
