I have the Ford performance tune in my WT so I use 92. It has always been super smooth and the power really feels effortless. I’m really pleased with the performance of the 2.7 as it sits. I’m paying extra at the pump but I don’t have to drive it a ton, so I haven’t minded, and feel like I’m getting something for it
What kind of mileage are you getting and what did you get before the tune? Frankly I can only get 17mpg babying mine on the stock tune. I see people saying they are getting 20mpg and I just dont understand how.

I use 93. I have the Ford Tune and other upgrades. Also in S. FL, 87 is 365 93 is 399 so........yeah.
What!? Where are you getting gas from? Within 4 miles of me according to the gas buddy app regular varies by 76c and premium over $1. Anywhere from 3.20-3.89 for 87 and 4.18- 4.70 for premium. Also S Fl

Combined city/hwy I’m getting a little over 18 mpg. On Hwy I can get around 21.5 mpg. I did a road trip a couple of months ago from Portland, OR to Reno, NV and avg almost 22 on the way down.

I can’t remember exactly what it was like before the tune, but I think I’m a full mpg better since the tune

Here in SC, regular is 3.46, 93 is 4.29. I guess it's Trump's fault 🤬

Must be the same salesman who, in 1986, told me the new Mustang GT I was looking at on his lot had an independent rear suspension. He actually argued it with me, even after I pointed out the 8.8" live stick with 4 control arms.
I left. Honestly, how can you be a salesman and be so ignorant of your product?
I have always believed that 90% of the people buying cars have zero idea what they are buying when it comes to real Specs. If it has CarPlay, heated seats, large display and some trendy color… any BS the salesman throws their way to sell the car is just icing on the cake for the buyer.

I have been to at least a dozen ford lots in ID and WA to inquire about or look at a bronco if they had one. In every case I knew more about Broncos from spending time on this forum than any sales person or resident ”bronco expert” knew at any of the lots. i had one sales jockey tell me I was wrong and there absolutely was a soft top from the factory for the 2dr, his sales manager put in an order with it added and it was shipped with it. Of course he couldn’t remember much about it other than I was wrong. It has been pretty humorous talking to these people.

Folks like us could really clean up selling cars.

OP - you are aware that 6G has a mandatory drinking game where anytime the words “my dealer/salesperson said” are uttered you must immediately repent and take a shot of clarity, correct?

Have used nothing but Chevron 91 since I purchased my BD two weeks ago.
Sadly, we haven't anything higher than 91. 🤢

Just rolled 1000 miles on the odometer today.
Changing the engine oil/filter Friday, going to Full Synthetic oil.

To date, I'm getting between 20 to 23 mpg highway, doing 70 mph, taking it easy w/the break-in.

No issues to date. 👍

Just to clear the air here, yes you will see the most power the 2.7L should be capable of with 93+ octane. Ford uses very complicated air/fuel/spark logic. More than they probably should actually. And with the help of wide band O2s and knock sensors, the car will decide how much spark to add via (several) map point tables. All based off of airload vs RPM. Those are set in stone, but there are other tables that allow for more spark to be added as octane goes up.

In the case of 93, you are getting the highest octane available at the pump and therefore by Ford spark and fueling logic, you will get added timing as long as no knock is detected. There is a hard cap to what the vehicle can add in the presence of no knock, so hitting that cap should be your goal. And in order to hit that cap you need as much octane as you can get. Anything 93 or more should get you there or at least close in most sea level weather scenarios. If you can blend some E to the tune of e20 or e30 or run a can of boostane or VP Octanium, you will for sure be hitting the spark cap at wide open throttle that Ford allows.

If people claim you dont need anything more than 87, sure for just normal day to day driving. But if you want the most consistent power you can get from the factory tune, you need to run at least 93. More if you can get some e added or some octane booster.

Salesmen are generally clueless about the mechanics of what they sell. When I went to test drive my Bronco a month ago and do the trade, my Salesman decided that was a good time to fill the tank. I didn’t think about it at first but walked back and asked what fuel he was putting in it. He responded “regular”. I said you know these have more hp on premium right? He looked at me dumbfounded and said “no! I would have put premium in it if I had known it made a difference”.

Honestly its probably best anyway to get that first tank out of the way and get some break in miles on it, so it wouldnt much matter to start with. But I'd run that first one down to fumes. Then a complete 93 fill up. Then give it about 20 miles or so to get all the lines clear of the 87 and pull the battery cable off and let it sit overnight disconnected as to get the long term fuel trims to clear. This is also called a KAM reset. Then next day hook it back up and go for a ride. That should get you about as clean of fuel trims as you're going to get for that density altitude.

More AI chatbot garbage... @Administrator
What the heck are you talking about? Are you calling me an AI bot?? Lol thanks? Seriously though, the majority of the crap I've read here is just that - crap. Take a look at a factory tune file then give me a call.
