I have been trying to identify my engine serial number and used every location google gives me without success. I have seen various QR codes, stickers with numbers and stamped numbers on metal. First-how many digits or other unique identifiers tell you it is in fact the engine serial number? I'm assuming it is multiple locations and wondering what is the best place to look? Feeling stupid today.....

When I worked at ford the engine didn’t have a serial number. The engine had a part number and build date on the label. The VIN for the vehicle the engine was going in was stamped on the block during the build process.

The engine part number and build code is how ford tracks engines for recalls, service or repair procedures. The label is usually on the valve cover.
