Same as the ranger and the RS. Just because it actually does not list it does not mean there is no application.

Go check the thread pitch for the drain plug for the 2.3 bronco then look up if it is the same as the 2.3 in the ranger.

See below .. note the size of the drain plug >> M12-1.75

I have looked at Fumoto for 2.3 and have not seen one yet either.

Pretty sure it’s THIS ONE

I don’t think replacing the plug every time is necessary at all. The washer/gasket…sure. Is it metal or plastic on the plastic oil pan?

Thinking of going RONIN - anyone for/against? I had Fumoto on my VWs.

My next and all subsequent oil changes will be done my me now that my initial complementary 5k was done by the dealer. So, I appreciate this video even though I’ve changed my own oil all my life. Just answers some “best practices” questions instead of finding out the hard way.
I've got my 2022 BD 2.3L 7MT on order, and this will be my first turbo (currently have a 2021 Trail Boss LT), and everything I've read says to do the first oil change at 500 miles, not 5K. Anybody want to weigh in on this, because doing it at 5K instead of 500 sounds like a YUGE difference!

I was just at my local ford dealer ordering accessories. Being right next to the service department I decided to ask when Ford recommended the first oil change. The service tech immediately responded with 5,000 miles is the recommended first oil change. That’s when I’ll be doing my first oil change.

Oil life on the dash said 91% remaining and the Ford pass app showed 0% remaining after 1000 miles. So I changed it and all is good. Also slip a 20 oz water bottle over the filter drain channel for no oil down the arm...

For the 2.3L, Ford recommends 5W-30 Synthetic Blend. Any of you guys running full synthetic anyway or a different weight and why?

I always change the engine oil in a new car at 1000 miles. I take it easy on the throttle during most of that time. I establish my most used shifting and cruising rpms. Then at about 950 miles, I go hammer down for a few redline shifts, and a few 3rd gear pulls. Change oil and filter. My brand is Amsoil Signature Series or Mobil 1 and a Wix filter. I consider it broken in at this point.
I only buy manual transmission vehicles, so I also change the fluid in the differential (s), transmission, transfer case if it has one, with the appropriate Amsoil product at 5000 miles. I've put 100's of 1000's of miles on many vehicles with this method. This is my way...there are many others, but this one is my preferred method.

Does anyone have the valve installed on their 2.3L ? Just wondering if I need an extension to clear the recessed area on the pan? Thanks.

Thanks I saw your pictures just wasnt sure if the pan shapes were different. is that short nipple enough to get a hose on it without falling off? I am debating that or the long one. really looking forward to just popping a hose on there and opening a valve. getting ready for my first oil change so need to get something ordered very soon. as long as I can still reach up and around the skid plate to get a hose on and open the valve. if I cant reach up there easily and have to remove the skid plate anyways then I may have to think hard about buying the valve. I love spilling and splashing hot oil all over the place I guess.

This goes onto the nipple and then the hose attaches to the other end of this piece. I hope this makes sense >> https://www.fumotousa.com/all-products/sh-10.html

Thanks . So I crawled under the Bronco, the pan looks a little bit different than your RS pan (I didnt grab pictures) either way yours has a slight recessed area to the plug mounting surface area. how did yours thread in without the angle of the drain plug hitting the pan?
Im thinking I will need the extension to make it work? or does the drain/angle portion of the valve spin while you tighten up the nut on the end? Sorry, just never seen or used one of these so its all new to me. I'll likely buy one for the F350 and maybe a couple other daily drivers.

Thanks for your help.

Fumoto makes different types of valves. The SX series allows you to clock the spout to whatever position you require. I highly advise you to clock the spout between 8 and 4 as gravity will help drain the oil. I hope this makes sense.

From Fumoto >> The new Fumoto Fumoto® SX-series can be rotated 360° when it is installed, allowing you to choose the position and the oil flow direction for a smaller profile and easier access for maximum protection and further convenience oil drainage.

BTW .. I have used the SX valve on several vehicles and it the best one they make as it allows you many different drain positions.
