Had an update not go through on Friday but I was able to click the "update now" button in the settings and it worked after that. Well the update worked, but the next morning my 12" screen didn't work for the short drive over to the gas station. Worked after that though.

Is this software from Intuit?? I thought software updates were to run inside their own sandbox until complete and ready to install so that it didn't wreck current install? But I still don't even know how to plug the IAG lights into the Aux 6, so there's that.

mine came close a month back, it pushed a OTA update, and the screen was black when I turned the vehicle on. I cycled the ignition a few times, still black screen. I did a hard reset (power button and right seek) and that seemed to fix it. That resets the SYNC module.
Tried that no luck

I woke up this morning to a ford pass notification that a software update failed and would try again at another date.
When I went to take my daughter to school the accessory mode would turn on but it will not start. The main screen now displays that the software update failed and is not driveable!

any ideas! The ford service techs still haven’t called me back

UPDATE: 8am the Ford customer service department is trying to get Ford roadside assistance is going to tow it to a dealer.
Update: 1030am towed to dealer and was told it may be next week before they can get to it. Ford said they will only reimburse me up to $45 per day for a rental even though the lowest rental price I can find is over $70 per day.

Did you happen to make any changes to your Bronco with Forscan? I disabled the double honk + added sport mode and I’ve not been able to receive any software updates for months now. No full-screen CarPlay for me! I’ve gotta wonder if making changes with Forscan is a factor here.

Modern age of cars... treating them like corporate laptops. They push out an update/fix knowing a large majority will work, but a certain percentage will fail... for the ones that fail... the user takes to a depot to get fixed. Analogy now applies to your transportation.... Not so sure this is good.

This is ridiculous... I called to see if they have heard of this happening and what to do to avoid it in the future. Below is the response over the phone. I have never seen these recommendations or requirements ever published by Ford.

Ford In Vehicle Technology customer service rep recommendations to avoid a "Brick" in the future, "A "Brick" could happen if the update is scheduled at or around 12am. You also need to have parking brake on at night with lights completely off and not in the auto setting. We recommend 1am for the scheduled update time. Some of the other the air updates may have a requirement that the parking brake be on with the lights fully off so please do this on the nights you have scheduled for updates."

It’s a brave, new techno world and this is a large scale engineering science project. More to come.

What shit advice. Absolutely ridiculous to expect customers have the vehicle in the oh so perfect condition as to help avoid a potential "bricking".

Dumb question. Shouldn't a failed update revert back to the previous version? This is the first I have heard of a software update immobilizing the vehicle.
Thats where yanking the negative cable comes in play and usually loads back to a working version, but apparently Ford is not the greatest when it comes to software, they cant even manage a website effectively.

Make sure that the vehicle is facing due north and the ambient temperature is between 65f-66f. The air pressure on the front tire set to 34psi and the rear to 33psi. lol.
