Has anyone seen a way to Flat Tow Broncos equipped with the Capable Bumper?

All of the current offerings I have seen are structured around the typical Recovery Shackle mounts.

Thanks for your input.

You are going to need a baseplate. I think the once’s for the standard bumper will work???

Do those just swap out where the Capable Recovery Shackles bolt up to the frame?

The Blue Ox mount to the underside of the frame. On the standard bumper they replace the tow loop/intercooler mount. I would assume they would replace the intercooler mounts on the Capable, you might have to trim the front bash plate. Not the best photos but:

Blue Ox has the parts you need, They used mine to build them.
Just got back from 380 mile trip all worked great including the brake system.
Only had to add 12 volt power point to battery.

What engine does your Bronco have? Ours is still on order but since reading about issues with the 2.7 and it’s electronic brake assist system, we have changed our order to the 2.3.

I have the 2.7 and blue OX Patriot 3. I did do the TSB with removing the 60 amp fuses and the Patriot three work flawlessly. The tow bar mounts go in place of the front recover d rings, no cutting of the Bronco is required.

I wrote etrailer and asked for a configuration of an installation with the HD Bumper - got the following response for the parts required.

Expert Reply:

When installing a flat towing package on your 2022 Ford Broncos I recommend The following items below:

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM92ZR

Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2 inch Hitch - 6,000 lbs # RM-520

Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267

Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251

RoadMaster 76 inch Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables - 8,000 pounds # RM-645-76

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75

Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 2 inch or 6 inch Drop/Rise # RM-077-6

Question for the group:
- Is there a base plate that does not require trimming the bumper or any other component? Curt Manufacturing?
- Thoughts on this configuration versus a Blue Ox Patriot 3 removable configuration?
- Anything missing?

Thanks in advance!

Late last week I finally got a supplemental brake system (Demco Stay-n-play) and Blue Ox tow bar combo installed @ Stoltzfus RV in West Chester, PA. They did an absolutely great job. They called Blue Ox and Ford - Ford said can't use the recovery hooks and Blue Ox redesigned their originals -- no cutting required. Flat towed the Bronco home (about 10 miles) - no issues.

Thanks for the post Tony. Am trying to answer the very same question now with my new 2023 Ford Bronco. Your installation looks nice. Am researching the Blue Ox products now. I trust you're still happy with your installation...

Bill - 2022 and 2023 will be the same if you have the HD capable bumper. Have over 1,000 miles flat towing and no issues at all. The best thing I did was get the stay-n-play supplemental brake system -- i literally just turn it on once I'm hooked up. Let me know if you need part numbers

Thanks Tony. Part numbers would be much appreciated. Also, did the Blue Ox brackets come with the wiring harness and power connector (I think it does after reviewing their installation instructions for the one I'm considering)?
