I reached out to a class action law firm and received a prompt response. You may wish to do the same and fill out their form to receive information about the status of their investigation. Note that they currently appear to be focused on a leakage issue with hard and soft tops. But they also appear to be interested in learning about the MIC top cracking/bubbling issues, which could be treated together with or separate from the former leakage issue.

You get the 10$ Amazon gift card and a nice letter (suitable for framing). Oh, (if you are lucky), you might get a post card from Bahamas where the lawyer is taking a year off work.

Or you sit back, complain, and get nothing. You do you. For the cracked MIC top owners, a class action lawsuit may be their only recourse. FWIW, my spouse is a corporate in-house lawyer.

The AI answer for a class action lawsuit on a $5,000 product (#itsallaboutthelegalfees)

Class action lawsuit payouts for a $5,000 product can vary widely, but are often in the range of $20 to $500 per person, according to Tribeca Lawsuit Loans. The final payout amount depends on several factors, including the specific details of the case, the number of people affected, and the terms of the settlement agreement. In some cases, payouts can be significantly higher, even reaching $1,000 or more, especially in consumer fraud or antitrust cases.

I’ve been a part of numerous class action suits, I never asked to be they just included me. I reviewed awards from under $1 up to $20ish. You do you and help make some lawyer get richer while you receive no actual restitution.
I see no one getting a new top which is what should happen.

I don't forsee a resolution to this MIC f-up. Lawyers will get richer, and I'll still be stuck with a cracking MIC. (Which I'm going to guess will eventually be dropped.) Im just going to save my money and wait for ford to offer the painted hard top for sale. (If they do.) Or, trade for a similar used 25+ with painted top in the future.

No thank you. Seen how class action works. Unless you are the firm, or the one bringing it up, the rest gets pennies on the dollar. I would have to sue to get anything of real value and I don’t have the cash or time.

FWIW I was part of a failed class action law suit with frame rot on my 2006 4Runner. It was from a production batch with frames that had been outsourced to a 3rd party that botched rust prevention. This 3rd party also made frames for Tacoma's of the same vintage, and the class action law suit won, and triggered a frame replacement recall from Toyota (which is another story).

But the suite failed on the 4Runner, for no logical reason. Consider that this evidence was not sufficient:
- 2006 4Runner from New England
- 140K miles
- Engine ran like new - nothing was broken
- No dents, no rusted paint

But, the undercarriage rusted like crazy. My neighbor still has a 2003 4Runner with 300K miles and it's frame looks clean. A shop replacing my muffler at 110K asked if I had been driving in the ocean.

This is my 2006 4Runner just before I sold it in late 2021 with 140K miles on it:
- trailing arm breaking free and held on with a nylon strap just in case
- Gas tank about to fall on ground because 2/3 of its support and retainer strap rotted away.
- Car turned left when accelerating, and right when braking from shifting rear axle.
- Accelerating hard in reverse may have ripped the axle off the driveshaft
- otherwise, it ran perfect, everything worked, and looked 100% inside and out.

Enjoy. (This is why I rust proofed my Bronco):

Y'all need to find better class action suits to get in. I have had multiple 3 figure and a 4 figure settlement from them. :)

You can buy an (un)painted top right now! Have been able to since the Heritage came out.

I’m only interested in getting in on a class action lawsuit if it would force Ford to give an extended warranty on the hardtop.

Or,.....you ditch the "MIC" top, buy a soft one on this forum, and be happy. I have a hard time understanding the logic behind buying a convertible vehicle and putting a hard top on it. On the top of that,....I am comfortably retired lawyer.
Because my hardtop is quiet and doesn’t make the Bronco look like a horse-drawn buggy when it’s folded back. It’s way easier to remove than the soft top.

QUIET!?

After having Tinnitus for 28 years there is NOTHING quiet in my life anymore. But,....I also don't hear "squeaks", "rattles", "weird noises", nor I hear the wife bitching. The high pitched whistle in my ears, combined with a bad "wind storm" background you can get used to (no other choice), but squeaks/rattles in my vehicle would drive me nuts.

Had an 05' with the V8. Life in Raleigh, except for 3 years in Chicago (2/09 - 11/11). By the time we left for DC, the rims were bubbling. Nothing can withstand that road salt! Might as well park in the surf at the beach.
