I never understand this comment. I have running boards on my truck and they have never stopped a car door ding. I highly doubt they would on the Bronco, either. Doors aren't big squares, they are tapered and shaped to easily get around the step to hit your vehicle.

I get the idea that this system is going to be communicating with other vehicles like an apple tag? Not sure about that.

A “running board“ is not meant to protect the vehicle, it’s only a step.

Rock rails; in particular, those of what I can describe as a fabricated tube design, that sits at an angle and makes a sort of loop that extends a good way away from the side of your vehicle DOES offer side protection because that’s what they are designed to do. In many ways, they can get in the way and bang your leg, but they can serve as a sort of high step in, but are primarily designed to protect the bottom sides of your truck.

If You do a little research into pictures, and or videos that explain rock rails, this will make a little more sense. Running boards tuck as flush to your vehicle as possible and often sit too low to offer protection for a door.

I agree, and this is my tin foil hat conspiracy, but I think other automakers are seeing the success of Tesla's own stores and want to do the same. I think Ford is letting dealers rip customers off so they can get some legislation changed. That way they can start having their own pick locations like Tesla and use the dealer mark up and changing/ canceling orders as part of their argument later.
