Ford has a reason for offering so many gray variations, and two reds.

It's a circular reference. People buy boring colors because that's what the factories make. The factories make boring colors because it's what people buy.

I think itā€™s reflective of ā€œpeople are willing to buy those colorsā€ so dealers will put them in inventory, versus those are the colors that people really want.
Itā€™s more of ā€œIā€™m not offended by this colorā€ and a low risk for inventory.

Those colors are the same as those in people's kitchens and bathroom (namely cabinetry) anymore.

Now eliminate all leases, rental cars, all non-sports cars, and Hi performance trucks, and get back to us.

Might as well compare Mustang color choices to Corollas.

In fact, that's the problem.

The Bronco color pallet wouldn't be out of place on the Corolla, but would cause a riot in the Mustang community, if forced on them.

There is nothing individually wrong with any of the 11 choices.

It's the combined effect of 11 very conservative colors.
Nissan has been putting a metallic orange on their sedans for years.
Bright red is everywhere.

TL-DR; the Bronco color pallet is weak tea.

All cars are not created equal. 'Lifestyle' vehicles need different rules to play by.

I doubt I would have a dark green color at the top of my buy list if I was buying a minivan or commuter car.

So much more Ford could have done here for the launch. Such as giving us a rotating heritage color every year.

I am always amazed that exotic cars follow suit with this. if you walk on a Porsche lot, you see black, white and silver. You would think that if you are buying a $100,000-$150,000 car that you might see a majority of cars that fit the styling better.

Allow me to chime in from my experience selling cars.

The grayscale colors are the most mild in reaction if it's not someone's ideal color choice. Like I've rarely heard "oh I can't stand a silver car, that won't work for me.". Whereas a bright red, blue, yellow, etc., definitely has a polarizing reaction.

Plus all fleet vehicles are white or silver. White is just great in hot climates. That's my biggest draw for it myself because I live in Houston.

the proportions would change if the buying model here in the states were
to order the vehicle to build at the factory instead of picking up what's available
on the dealer lot.

white, silver, black and grey will always sell. it's like painting all the walls
white in a house before you attempt to sell it. the new owner will repaint
it to their color choice.

My JKU is bright gecko green and as soon as I laid eyes on it I knew I had to have it.

Felt the same way when I saw the renderings of velocity blue.

Black, white, gray and silver definitely don't elicit the same emotional response.

Edit. However, I will add, a white Bronco with an all black greenhouse (a, b & c pillars, top, dark tint) will look sharp.

Oh and I have an unproven thought that in the used car market having bland but inoffensive colors ups the manufacturer's resale value and helps the company by doing so.
