As a Ford retiree this entire mess makes me want to put a bag over my head. Having spent time with Product Development my questions would be 1) who chose Webasto and why?, 2) who “green lighted” the final Webasto production quality?, 3) were any other vendors considered for hardtop production?

if you know how Ford works internally you can almost word for word recite the discussions that led up to this . Bottom line, Webasto was chosen by some Finance analyst because their product would save “X” dollars vs the vendor the Bronco design team wanted. The Finance Analyst will have gotten themselves transferred to their next assignment safely before the penny dropped on this fiasco. And the World of Ford rolls on….

We can buy hardtop from ADV Fiberglass Concepts . . or some other aftermarket . .
Example: ADV "Slanted" design - see photo below - lower-half -
- ADV "Slanted" design looks much better to me than Ford OEM hardtop -
- whatever hardtop Ford ships, I plan upgrade to ADV "Slanted" -
- ADV plans 4-Dr "Slanted" hardtop available by end of 2021 -
- and plans this 2-Dr "Slanted" hardtop available in 2022 -

Still missing November 2021. My 7/21 blend is to be shipped early week of 10/25. Not sure where the totality of DM units have shipped, but I want to believe normal production will be achieved this year. I do like the slanted top, though. Oh, so sporty!

I'm pretty sure Webasto doesn't make Jeep's Wrangler & Gladiator hardtops. This wouldn't have been an issue were that the case.

So a pointless thread that was made over 2 months ago before we knew that Ford was already retooling the production line at Webasto? Many people thought that with the way the Bronco launch had (has) been bungled that Ford was not competent enough to get ahead of the problem to produce anything on time. Even with the new MIC 2.0 there have been some that are still iffy on the QC and others still shipped to owners with MIC 1.0 after sitting at DM. We are a week away from November and already have a replacement top but I wouldn't call it a success as Ford has said hard tops will still be a constrained item even in MY22.

Webasto is obviously working without adult supervision again. This is why we are waiting...

Or because this is how Ford designed it!

Hey, @Ford Motor Company, straighten this uppity customer out, let the customer know that Ford went to great lengths to ensure that the quality of the product is 100% up to expectations...




Also, how much longer do I need to wait for my defective top?!?
