My experience is in solid front axle vehicles. Just realized I'm not sure where the fill port is on the Badlands for the front differential.

Am I going to have to remove skid plates or am I missing something?

I just need to peek and make sure the fluids arent contaminated. Or do I?

This is post fording maintenance.

Looks like you'll have to drop the skid. There's a bit a of a cut out in the skid and you can sort of see the drain and fill ports, but doesn't seem like I can get a wrench in there with the skid on. I have a bit of green marking on the drain port but struggled to get a good pic of either.

Yeah, that's what I saw as well. I was afraid of that.

The rear differential was perfect and so was the rest of the fluids. I'm not equipped to drop the skid to check the front diff. Engine oil is good. Transfer case is good.

I'm not even sure if it needs to be checked. Don't know where the breather tube is and Ford doesn't list any maintenance needed after fording.

Sorry but that skid plate cracks me up. The one thing it's supposed to help protect, and they cut a hole in it so it can stick through and hit.

You know it seems like Ford is overfilling a lot of the fluids, it would be nice if someone checked the diffs to see if they're over or under.

My rear diff was perfectly filled. Still working on that front.

You are looking for these. Top is fill, bottom is drain.

Yeah. Entire skid plate is in the way.

The good news is no water entered anywhere. Everything was perfect. Can confirm the Bronco can handle maximum fording depth.

I'm a old guy with old ways.

What are thoughts about when to make a 1st drain and change of rear differential oil with modern vehicles?

I’m pretty sure they have a small metal tube attached to the top, acting as an extension to the breather valve; allowing for a deeper fording depth.
