I keep checking back here to see if there is a good mudflap solution yet without having to cut my running boards. It really shouldn't be this hard.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm leaning towards just ordering the Gatorbacks and cutting my side steps 2 inches or so and simply using silicone to refasten the front plastic caps instead of using the oem clips that will need to be removed.

Sounds like wait and hope for some solutions. It is a good point about how many different combinations are out there, but would still like some affordable stock options from Ford rather than having to jump from a $50 flap to $450.

I've got a Wildtrak with SAS and the steps (which I'll probably replace anyways with LOD or GoRhino D6).

Seems like once you go SAS you automatically bomb out of stock fit on the $50 option, so mod is required.

I think steps just were poorly designed. All Ford had to do was shorten them slightly and for that matter raise them up to also have a pinch seam mount or at least cover that gap, which looks crappy.

also some mudflaps that aren’t $450 for the SAS package

I just bought the 50 dollar ford mud flaps and trimmed them to fit my sas obx and couldn’t be more thrilled with them. Had them in a huge storm and had nothing. Up the sides and they look pretty good.

These look good. They don't hang down nearly as much as the overpriced Gator flaps. Those things nearly touch the pavement. Any pics on how you trimmed these to fit?

I’ll pull something together for you. It wasn’t hard. I used a piece of cardboard to get the curve right then used a high speed cutting wheel. You can use the two lower mounting points and I know some people don’t mount the top but I did. I ended up using a plastic ford push rivet to secure it to the wheel flair which required a small hole that could be easily filled if I took them off and it’s in a place you would not be able to see.

That looks great! Ford should re-engineer those running boards so owners don’t have to do a retrofit.

I like the "trail armor" too. Does it go under the door where you step in too? I was thinking about using my Ford Pass points to buy those.

Nice job.

It does goes under the door and covers about 12” of the sill. The fit was ok but left some white showing on the bottom edge

Would you mind getting a picture when you have some time? I have clear door sill ppf already for mine (which is on its way), but im curious how it compares to having that there, and if those would scuff up the door sill as it is.

Pics to help my fellow bronco family. It was much easier to modify the 50 dollar flap then cut down or reverse my running boards and I have had my bronco in two big storms with no adverse issues, no spray up the side. Also added pictures of the trail armor. Very happy I added it.
