It is for the 2 door & 4 door.Your first post. Page 1.
Correct, Just get the soft top version. All of the hardware can stay in place with the hardtop on.@GearShade, just verifying, if I DON'T wanna have to drill for the 4-door....I just buy the soft-top version? And the only disadvantage is that I have to take the mesh on and off before I take the hard top on and off? All the hardware stays in place?
I received my gearshade for my 2 door hard top in the mail a last night. I currently run with a Bestop Sunrider in place of my hardtop freedom panels. Do you know if I will be able to install the Sunrider over the gearshade or will the gearshade need ro be removed everytime the top goes back on?Y'all asked for it, so here is our offering for a solution to use the hardtop and the mesh at the same time! Will work for the 4 Door and 2 Door!
NOTICE: This will require drilling into two of your hardtop twist locks.
Installation is very easy. Basically, you will remove the 2 centermost twist locks and install our stainless steel plate add-on. The mesh will have two grommet holes for an 8mm T-handle Allen wrench to pass through. You will use the Allen wrench as a "key" to twist the locks to open and close.
Your top warranty is most likely void now.
Kit contents:
*Long 8MM t-handle wrench will be available separately, still sourcing them....
- Left stainless plate
- RIght stainless plate
- 2x M4 nut and bolt set
Installation:
Time 10mins
-Remove front panels
-Remove twist lock from the panel with your Bronco OEM tool kit.
-Please plate over the twist lock (clamp it in place) and drill two 4mm (3/16") holes through the holes in the plate
-Install provided M4 nut and bolt through the plate into the handle
-Reinstall the twist lock into the panel
Operation:
Full instructions will be added to our site soon.
*Removal of the front center bungee and clips is necessary while the hardtop is on. When you remove the panels, reinstall the bungee and clips.
The remaining twist locks and latches will be accessible from the edge of the mesh.
This product will go live next week! Visit www.gearshade.com for updates.
If you already have a soft-top version, we will be making a kit to retrofit it.
It should work with it. Just like a soft top would. Email us if you have issues.I received my gearshade for my 2 door hard top in the mail a last night. This will be an easy DIY task. Buy a small sheet of (charcoal gray carbon fiber, my choice) vinyl wrap for approx. $9-$10 and a few minutes of time. Or, spray with plastic dip.Actually, that's not a bad idea. @GearShade should team up with @StickerFab (you're both in Florida). Have an overlay sticker that mimics the MIC top handle and apply it to the plate.
In the event of a warranty claim, it likely won't be noticed that an actual modification was made to the handle.

I just received the top. I noticed it’s mentioned that two M4(3/16) holes that need drilling. I believe it should be 5/32 as 3/16 is too big and won’t go through pre drilled holes. Here’s a picture with the 5/32 bit fitted.Y'all asked for it, so here is our offering for a solution to use the hardtop and the mesh at the same time! Will work for the 4 Door and 2 Door!
