The "brain" is under the hood, typically secured with a mount made by BAMF, located in a crevice just fore of the battery (in a V6 model). The relocation requires that an extended-length wire kit be purchased from Warn, as the wires that come with the 10S aren't long enough to snake under the grille and into the engine compartment. As long as the controller is wired to the winch (regardless of wire length), the winch will work.
have an under hood pic of your mounting location ? Thanks!

I'll grab a photo when I next get a chance. In the meanwhile, more detailed photos of the system as currently set up on my rig:

The first two photos show the JCR camera relocation kit installed/working well, as well as a Yankum fairlead (the metal eye will be replaced by a spliced line eye in order to avoid using metallic components in the system for winching safety).

The next two photos are side views, where the sensors (in beige color) are located in the winch plate sensor openings - the sensor wires are holding the sensors in place, and doing a good job of that for thousands of miles now, on pavement and trail. As one can see, there is very little room in that area as the Warn is bulkier than other winches that I have seen on these pages.

The last photo shows winch wires snaking under the yellow grille valance; they then make a 180-degree turn back toward the battery area where the winch controller is located.

You have to cut the two plastic pieces for the lower mount to fit back on. Wasn’t hard. I have done it to two Broncos so far.

While not hard it’s the most stressful part of the install lol. Mine are ok but I’d have preferred less of a gap.

I am also looking at getting this RC mount.

Just would like a winch that doesn’t block the Bronco lettering maybe but that may not really matter in the end. I was thinking of just getting their RC12k winch due to price and good reviews on it.

If I do that and add the Safari Bar it’ll complete the front end, as well as block the Bronco letters, oh well.
I moved the control pack under the hood. Doesn’t block the letters and lets a little more air to the grill area. On the apex the control box is massive.

It only takes a little trimming of the plastic covers. Easy peasy when you see it. You don't have to over think it. Pretty simple when you get down to it.

That looks good! Do you have a pic of where the control box is mounted? Thanks!

Or you can be lazy like me and never get around to trimming and re-installing...

I installed the RC high mount last weekend . I went with the comeup seal slim 9.5. It fit great without having to trim down the sensor holders.
I didn’t have time to trim the plastic bumper trim caps. That will have to wait until my next visit.
i used the JCR camera relocation and yankum ropes fairlead. I removed all the metal and carry a couple soft shackles.
Oh, I need to pretension the line, too.

Edit: Badlands Sasquatch LUX. Parking, ACC, lane keep, and all other sensors work.

I used the JCR camera relocation mount.
Mountains to Metal just released one that looks like it doesn't stick up as much. I might try it.

I went with the ComeUp Seal Slim 9.5k winch. They have a 12k version, but it weighs more and I don't plan to start a recovery company, so 10k should be adequate.
I also put on the yankum fairlead and removed all the metal from the winch line. No need for those massive steel hook projectiles. The existing loop in the synthetic cable isn't big enough to fit around the yankum fairlead, so for now I'm using one of the hand straps to secure the line.
The battery cable was just barely long enough; I had to trim the plastic cover so I could route the cable parallel to the battery (180*) vs sticking out (90*).

Here's my post with pictures in the High Mount thread. Worth reading the entire thread, lots of good info.

Relocated control box with Smittybilt. Doing that, removing decals and a tiny bit of painting chrome logo cleans up the look nicely.

Some nice ideas about relocating the control box. I am first looking to find someone that makes a winch bar mount. Looks naked sticking out there.

No amount of trimming the end caps that go on the back of the sensors was enough to make use of the caps, as the winch has a larger side profile than others, apparently. My sensors are on there without the caps holding them in. How did you make it work?
So this is what I came up with, thin strip of plastic.

Very nice! I'll think of something similar. Still, mine haven't popped out after a few thousand miles of road/trail.
It might be unnecessary in the end. I have anther problem though. Since I actually have a 10, not a 10-S, I have a big honking roller fairlead out front. I think my parking sensors are just barely seeing it, they intermittently go off. I might have to angle them outward a bit somehow.
