I've used personal checks in the past. Never used anything else.

If I get an interest rate below 2% i'll just finance the entire thing for 36 months. No sense in parting with cash so quickly when it could be making gains.

I plan to pay cash from my second job. I'm getting a mansquatch so I have a little more time to collect the funds. I've started selling myself as a manwhore. So far business is slow, but I've got an updated ad on craigslist, so I expect things to pick up any day now. Really, cash is the only way to go.

If you can pay part of the amount due with a credit card (for points/miles/etc)...do that...assuming you actually have the money to pay the card balance.

As far as a cashiers check or personal check...ask the dealer. Most will let you pay with a personal check. I forget the amount but it’s a felony to write a bad check over $X dollars. I think $10,000 or $15,000? Again, I can’t remember.

I bought a $100K+ Mercedes once...out of state. I called the dealer and asked cashiers check or personal check? He said, if you can ask that question, we will take a personal check...and they did. I don’t even think they verified funds.

My trim is about 51k with tax 54k. 23k down which puts monthly at around 550.00. Hopefully 1.9 to 2.9 APR. Ford is offering 1.9 for 60 months now...Hopefully that will be around when I buy.

I make more from my investments than the interest on a loan. Foolish to liquefy to pay cash...
