This writeup was helpful for me. Thank you. I used 22 guage copper craft wire and that worked well with the 275 lb paracord. I initially tried (for way too long) with 325 lb paracord because I had it on hand but could not get it to go through the hole in the lever. It was just a little too big in diameter. I just used cobra knots and it's small enough to tuck in the slot of the cover. We use window vents when camping in the back that prevent us from using the doors (without disrupting the vents) so the tailgate release was needed. I also made a pull handle also which helps close the tailgate when you are climbing inside.
