Got a letter saying the fix for the camera freezing (25S49) is available and can be performed through software updates instead of taking it to the dealer, but not specifically how to do the software update. The letter says

"To complete this software update your vehicle will have to be parked with the ignition off for a short period of time. Also, you will have to schedule...the software installation to ensure that you will not need your vehicle during the update. You can check the progress of the installation via the icons on the in-vehicle screen, the FordPass app or on the Owner's website".

I can't figure out how to actually schedule this specific fix though. I have auto updates turned on. I have set those updates to start at 11PM on either Friday or Saturday. I guess I'm expecting to find a place to tell it specifically what day, so that I don't need to use it for 8 hours but I don't see it.

Has anyone successfully installed this fix using software update, and if so, how did you schedule it?

I called to ask why I didn’t get the update a few days ago. The agent told me a few things to try, but still no luck.

I called again today, and was told the update is sent out in waves, so he had no idea when my vehicle will get it (he said it could be weeks or months).

I told him the letter is misleading, and he just said the update is “available” in the general sense. If the letter had explained it’s sent in waves, I wouldn’t have wasted time trying to get the update now.

The two biggest reasons OTA updates don’t occur:

Ford hasn’t released the update for your VIN yet - they tend to send them out in small batches

Or

Your battery doesn’t have enough charge to start the process.

Put your Bronco on a trickle charger overnight and you will probably get updates rolling in within the week

There’s no point in using trickle charger if Ford has no idea when the update will be released for my VIN.

True, but you probably won’t get it when they do if you don’t use a charger - unless you go down to the dealer

I got the recall notice as a postcard from my local dealer. When I read the part about "you can schedule it to upload itself" from my home, I wondered the same question everyone has - HOW?

I checked my Ford App dashboard, I have auto updates turned on, and 5 days a week set up to do it at nights.

But then I read the above about having to do more steps, start and run the vehicle, etc. Surely I don't have to leave the truck idling in my garage over night?! How do I KNOW if:
a) it's going to update when it can from Ford?
b) that it DID update and is installed?

Simple questions, shouldn't be complicated. Which going to my Ford dealership is...
