This is quite misleading and also doesn't make sense. Why would they install the hardware enclosure without a chip and then and solder the chip in the field? Microchips are not soldered by hand.

They could be out there installing a module or enclosure with a screwdriver, perhaps?

Probably zero. Ford had these Ice Mountain husks parked and the factories shut down well before the Canadian bridge was blocked.

I hear you man. It sucks because there is literally no way to know how much longer this could last. I've started to look at other vehicles to have a plan, but it does hurt to do it with all this sunk time/cost.
