Installed ARB Rear Differential Cover

Upgraded Rear Differential.
Installed the ARB rear differential cover on my 2.3L Big Bend. It was 100% cosmetic for me due to doing a Red White and Blue color combo.

how much oil did you put in?

I second that question, as the ARB cover looks like it might slightly reduce the gear oil capacity over the stock cover, but looks are deceiving. Ford Performance offers a nice nodular iron cover for the M220 on the Ranger, which 'might' work on the Bronco (will fit the M220 on the Bronco, only potential issue is sway bar clearance). The ARB unit is nice in that it has a drain plug. The Ford performance unit for the Ranger does NOT have a drain plug. A little nit is the M220 on the Ranger has a drain plug on the front passenger side of the housing. The M220 on the Bronco has a flat pad there, but no drain plug. No idea why not.

My Mechanic used the recommended Oil amount directly from Ford. The only difference is you have a dip stick you need to use needs to be marked that amount on the cover itself.

My ARB covers on a Dana 44 and Dana 30 also have a strong magnet built into drain plug. It pulls out some metallic sludge every time you can fluid !!

What did you use for the bolts with studs that the brake line clips into? Since the holes are recessed you can’t reuse the same bolts.

Also, did you use the 25.4 ft-lb spec from the ARB install instructions or the 177 in-lb from the service manual?

I installed an ARB cover and made my own brackets to secure the brake line.

@Grumpy - solid idea.

I worked around it. I used 4 washers on the stock stud bolts so that I had enough of the 13mm nut to bite. I moved the clips up to the same bolts as you. Not the best, but didn’t expect this bump in the road.

Also, I went with the ARB suggested 25 ft lbs since it was hardware specific. Stayed with the two 17 ft lbs on the stud bolts.
