Installed the Ford Procal tune, and I am both ecstatic, and pissed off.

So I got it installed a few days ago, and it's amazing.

Not really any huge "power" gain, but the transmission, shifting, power delivery, and overall performance are vastly improved.

If you live near the mountains, or in hilly areas, you really notice it.

Now, for why I'm pissed.

Why the hell wasn't the vehicle delivered from the factory like this? Seems like this should just be the default. Not a $600 upgrade.

Either way, I have it now, and am very happy I pulled the trigger.

There have been forum topics already explaining various reasons "why" it's not factory. Literally every single factory vehicle on the road could be tuned better, but there are often sacrifices in other areas.

That’s crazy, between checking for updates copying and saving stock file and flashing the performance file you’re looking at maybe 30 minutes. Realistically I can see them whacking you an hour but 2 is just a money grab

Just as Cux211 said… it’s 30 minutes start to finish to do. They should only be charging you for 1 hour realistically. For warranty purposes though… it’s better to go to a dealership so the paperwork is there that a ford dealer installed it versus trying to get proof from an outside shop with an ASE technician.

I have my WT at the dealer today for my roof leak (2nd time for this same problem) and was quoted 3-hours for the tune. After I stopped laughing, I said it takes less than an hour ... service person (kid) tried to tell me no, it takes hours. I wasn't going to argue. I may find a reputable ASE nearby and document accordingly.

If you don’t want any problems with future warranty claims, a dealer has to install. I’m not sure why that’s the case, but it is with all Ford aftermarket tunes.

Yeah, familiar with the Ford tunes, had my Mustang done a few years back. Will check with another dealer.

I would pay the 2 hours if I could find a dealership that would do it. The few I've asked looked at me like a spoke a foreign language. Had no idea it even existed.

I believe Garnet Ford in West Chester PA will install the tune. My local dealer won't do it but told me that a dealer in Rising Sun, MD is also a Ford Performance shop. I don't know the name of the dealer in Rising Sun but there isn't many, so you can probably just call around Either place is only about an hour from Lancaster.

I did not. Brought it to a Ford store I work with (I work in the car business), and they installed it for $100. Its not warrantied if you do it yourself.
