Over the last couple of weeks, I’m having issues with my iPhone 16 Pro Max not connecting to my Bronco using CarPlay.

What normally happens is I leave for work in the morning and it won’t connect. I restart my iPhone and then it connects. I leave work and it connects no problem, but the problem happens again intermittently the next day. Reboot the phone and it works no problem.

My old iPhone worked flawlessly with sync doing the same thing and I’ve had my new phone for about two months and it just cropped up about two weeks ago.

Anyone else running into this? I’m going to try just shutting the Bluetooth on and off next time to see if that fixes it.

Unrelated to the Bronco, but thought I would share a similar experience I would get with my previous BMW.

Often times when I would either get a new phone, or if there was a major iOS update, I would experience similar issues as you stated. The Bluetooth connection would be drop, and I couldn't get the car to reconnect to the phone unless I rebooted it. It was pretty annoying.

The issue would always "resolve itself" over time. My guess was that subsequent minor iOS updates that almost always followed patched some issue that was present in the previous version.

I know that really doesn't help you, but thought I'd share.

Sometimes if you remove the phone from Sync and readd it it will play better

Sync and CarPlay both have issues in general though and mine has never been anything remotely close to solid or reliable over several different phones and updates of all sorts. I eventually resorted to disabling wireless CarPlay, and it still isn’t 100%, but it’s much more stable (and better audio quality to boot)

I hate having Carplay take over the screen every time I get in the vehicle so I disabled it on my phone and only turn it on if I absolutely need it.

There is room in the screen area for I would guess a 50 CD changer. Remember those days? Always worked. Paper maps worked too. Today’s convenience is nice but glitchy.

I had trouble remembering the Radio reset (Power+FF) so I wrote it on a Post-it note and stuck it on the dash. Then of course, I didn't need to reset it for MONTHS. Before that, I was hunting for a pull-off so I could turn off the Bronco, open the door and reset it. That may help you to get Sync and Carplay to connect.

Have the same issue. I've found turning off bluetooth and turning it back on in my iphone, it will reconnect without issue. I think it's something on iOS end and not sync since sometimes rebooting sync won't fix the issue.

yeah I tired that and it didn’t work-it’s a phone issue not a sync issue.

I have this problem as well but all I have to do is go to Settings>Phone List and click the highlighted sync button for your phone then restart it and after the sync it works.

Same issue on my '24 Badlands-SAS and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Took it into dealership and they said they reset it. Asked if they just did a CTL-ALT-DEL and they said no they cleared some settings. This has been a couple of days and it seems to have worked. We'll see. Used to happen when I was on the phone most often.

I find that instead of trying to solve it from the phone end (bluetooth off/on, WiFi off/on, turning CarPlay off/on etc...) I just reboot Sync. It's easier to do, and it's usually faster that trying to connect from the phone end.

Push in the Bronco's volume button, and press and hold the >>| button until you see the Sync screen go black, then release.

Sync restarts, and CarPlay always (for me) reconnects.

This is also an easier way to accomplish a reboot while driving instead of futzing with the phone.

That's a great tip! I'll give it a try next time I have the problem.

Yeah that is the first thing I tried but didn’t work. It seems like it’s on the phones end not sync.
