I think we’re in the same boat. Threw the $795 at the rear locker option in my OBX and upgraded the tires. Haven’t given thought to 4A since then.I was too cheap for a build with 4A, so I went the conservative driving + good tires route. Would be nice to have, but in two years of ownership I can't say there was a time when I felt like I really needed it.
Your comment is nuts! I've driven through many many snow storms and engaging 4wd is a must. I am talking about proper storms with inches of accumulation when the highway is white. This happens in Vermont all the time. You're really not supposed to use 4H/4L when driving on pavement even if there is snow on it. If you have grip, then you're binding your drivetrain. If you don't have grip on the pavement then you shouldn't be driving on it anyways, lol.
4H/4L is supposed to be used when your wheels can slip, otherwise it's bad on your drivetrain.
That's what makes 4A so good. You can leave it on all the time with no issues.
It's been around since the 90's. Not even relatively new at this point.keep in mind 4-Auto is relatively new

Why is a Floridian commenting on a 4WD issue with a Toyota MR2 as their profile picture in a Bronco Forum?Your comment is nuts! I've driven through many many snow storms and engaging 4wd is a must. I had many 4WD vehicles for decades in snow without 4A and never had an issue. I have 4A in my Sasquatch now, but no matter where life takes me, I'm confident I will never engage the 4A on my Bronco, but that's just me. It's a nice feature for many, but to answer OP's question, NOT NECESSRY AT ALL.
Why? Well, I'm from Boston and have 10 tens more snow and ice driving experience than you. Owned 4 Wranglers, 2 Defenders, a 4 Runner & 2 Broncos so have a decent understanding of 4WD.. Never sat in an MR2, but hey, don't let that stop you from creating your own reality. Why is a Floridian commenting on a 4WD issue with a Toyota MR2 as their profile picture in a Bronco Forum?
He can't add 4A after the fact to make it right.Actually got pulled a week early..salesman never got back to me when I wanted to make changes earlier..thought about cactus gray but definitely happy with carbon as I saw one last week so I'm excited at how it looks in person
That being said I'm at msrp but wondering what manager meant by making things right..I'm always a fan of customer is always right..lol
Does anyone here have anything that was thrown in when they got their Bronco besides an ADM.
Lol
This dealer is quite far from me but seemed to be the best to deal with or so I thought..that being said there are bunch of Broncos landing on lots within 20 miles of me ..and I could probably do msrp..and have within 2-3 weeks..but again have to deal with another salesman

If equipped with the Advanced Transfer Case, then Sport Mode turns on 4A for some reason. If you have the regular transfer case, it keeps it in 4H.So is 4A=Sport Mode?
I dont have 4A but I do have sport mode.
Make it right???Just realized salesman didn't put in order for 4x4 advanced is it a deal breaker?
Had a TJ in the past and never had any issues
But wondering if there will be issues utilizing the 4wd in a light snow..live in nyc.
I'm thinking I could live without it but wondering if any issues
When I contacted manager about another issue he said when bronco comes in make sure you like it and I'll do right
Don't know what that means but maybe I can get a set of mats/liners on them
Has anyone had dealership throw anything in to make things right? Would love to know what freebies could be had
Thanks
This. I'm in MN too. There are times when it's so cold the salt doesn't melt the ice. I drove 4WD Wranglers for 25 years. You can do it, but once I tried AWD in my wife's Atlas, I knew I wanted it in my Bronco. It feels more secure on the road when you run into unseen ice.Living in MN, definitely wanted 4A. Not once used 4H, only 4A.
I lived without it on my old Xterra. Put Blizzaks on it and rarely used 4wd on the street. Good winter tires without 4A will be better than stock with 4A.Just realized salesman didn't put in order for 4x4 advanced is it a deal breaker?
