Does the Bronco have a stupid "assist spring" on the clutch pedal like the newer 'Stangs?
If so, has anyone removed it, or checked to see if the Steeda spring fits?

Just planning ahead now that I finally have a VIN.

The clutch is 'fly by wire' like everything else (except the hood release). You're not physically controlling it.. So I wonder if removing the spring just kinda makes it flop around?

Hmmm, sure doesn't feel like a clutch-by-wire system. Is there any documentation I can reference to figure out how this works?

I'm pretty sure the 7MT is still using standard linkages, so would be surprised if it the clutch is CBW. 🤷‍♂️

The image posted above looks to be a hydraulic clutch. So pushing the clutch is really pressurizing a hydraulic line that moves a piston near the clutch to actuate it.

With regards to disconnecting the return spring, that is not a good idea. The spring insures you have full return of the pedal.

It's a very common mod on the Mustang. Either to remove it entirely, or replace it with a much lighter 35# spring. The advantage is it gives you a heavier clutch feel, more linear response, and you can feel the engagement point better.

I guess I'll find out "by September"

I've seen a lot of people do that mod, but never really felt the need to do it myself. I've had 3 manual Mustangs ('08 GT, '13 GT, '19 Bullitt).

I did add a pedal extension on the clutch pedal though since Ford likes to position it further back than it needs to be.

I went Auto with the Bronco so my GF can drive on road trips. (I tried teaching her stick, it didn't take 😂)

That is a resistive spring. It is a hydraulic clutch. Your just moving the fluid you don’t feel the pressure plate force… Clutch by wire has never been used in the automotive industry or anywhere else for that matter.

Electric clutch…🤣 It would sound like your electric parking brake every time you pushed it down engine off or on.

Has anyone removed the clutch assist spring? Or replaced it with the Steeda spring?
