Thanks for the link @BossBronco

I never plan to go larger than 35” with the added 1” from sas Bilstein. I originally got a 42” Hi-Lift - but, because it didn’t fit horizontally in the cargo I went with 36”. Anyone think I’ll ever have an issue with height using the smaller jack?

I’ll run some tests at home once I get the suspension and tires mounted.

Where are your jacking points?

My FJ40 has a 42" hi-lift and there are times when it should have been a 48". It has proper steel front and rear bumpers that give the hi-lift lots of jacking points. The bronco doesn't have any.
It's mostly used to break the suction when bogged down in the mud and I never use it for changing the tire.

Having owned it for YEARS and I'm very familiar with it but it's not something I'll be carrying in my bronco.

Instead, I'll be adding a geared bottle jack that uses the same crank as the scissor jack. They extend over 2ft, weigh almost nothing and take up very little space. Mine is rated for 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs). Get one from a wrecking yard, look in any the Toyota 4x4.

For the bottle jack, get a saddle or make your own, here's one for $12.

@EveryDayBronco - at the moment my plan was to get one of the D-lift adapters and use the shackles. But, the more I think about it - a bottle jack seems like the way to go.

There are no jacking points for a hi-lift so don't waste your money, besides they're heavy and jeeps only get them for looks.
Haha, certainly seems that way in my area, all pristine and new looking, not a scratch on them, but hey, go that safari look down with the big lamps and the big red jack :-D

to each their own ;-p

good info here, I'll probably get a bottle jack too. The factory one works fine in my driveway, but off road something that can go a bit taller is probably good to have, don't always have a nice flat spot to work at. Interesting idea to check Toyota 4x4 at a wrecking yard.

And in a way nice to know that a highlift won't really work, wasn't really a fan of having that big heavy thing with me.

Most folks in the Raptor world, at least, view the Pro Eagle jacks as the ones to beat.

We use those for all our Raptor support vehicles... but the space they occupy is a lot, considering the limited storage space of the Bronco. Definitely a good option, but once you add the recovery gear and spares needed to support tours (which is our plan with our Broncos), space becomes a precious commodity!

I hate the standard scissor jack and the lug wrench that Ford bundles with their, trucks. That was one of the first changes I made. Grabbed a 4ton bottle jack, a GTE TOOLS - LugStrong 2 piece lug wrench, they all tuck nicely in the space for the oem jack with room to spare. I'll make a gear bag to keep things nice an tidy in there and have a saddle on order and will drop in a few wood blocks as well. I've tucked in a set jumper cables into the void space on the right side and still have space for a few more items.

I don't know how reliable a hydraulic jack is for being stored on it's side. They might be ok I just don't know??

The toyota jacks are geared so they never fail. I'll be keeping the factory jack but adding the bottle jack to stow under the seat with a lug wrench.

It's happened to me that I get a nail/screw and need to take off the wheel to plug the tire but the oem jack being under the cargo area I need to unload which is a pita. Happened last summer with my subaru and won't happen again!

I wish jacks were stowed under the hood!

Is 2.5 ton enough for Bronco floor jack? Or need 3 ton? (This will be at my house, not mobile jack.)

changed the tire on my Pilot tonight and realized the floor jack really needs to go 1-2” higher. Are those adapters ok to use with a floor jack also?

Those adapters wouldn't be safe for your floor jack.

Instead of a floor jack I'd suggest a unijack. It's safer for working under the vehicle.

You'd want to make sure which ever one you get fits under the frame. The 4,000 lb has a min height of 8 5/8". 6,000 lb has min height of 11".

I have been looking for a solid garage jack. But, do folks really hit the trail with one of those in their truck?
in Raptor with a mount in the bed...Yes. Would not do it in the Bronco. Way too big for the amount of room.
