How am I supposed to drink my Starbucks and text and drive if I'm shifting?
Pretty sure the 12in lux package will voice text in between movies for you if you get too much going on.

Oh my friend! Many a time I drank my Starbucks and eat my Panera sandwich driving on I70. 😎.
the trick is to use the right thigh while on cruise control 😉

Auto all the way. Up until my last 2 vehicles (a tuned Ecoboost Mustang from 2016-2020, and a Colorado ZR2 that I bought at the end of 2020), all my vehicles were manual transmissions.. they are good if you are on a race track and need to have full control over where your rpm's are through a corner, but that's about it. Automatics shift WAY faster, are more consistent, and more pleasant to drive as a daily driver. I'm getting the 2.7 in my Bronco, so manual isn't an option - but even if it was, I wouldn't get it, unless it was a SIGNIFICANT cost reduction (at least $2500-$3000)

I am in the same boat. Dec 2020 res. 2Dr BL Mid non-Sas MT7 vs A10.
80% sure I want the manual based on fun factor alone.
WHERE CAN I TEST DRIVE A MT?? I'm in Houston. Dealer (Planet Ford) can't find one.
Did Off-Roadeo in Austin, Nov 2021. Drove a 2Dr Wildtrak Sas (with a soft-top). Off-Roadeo no longer provides MT's. IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE THIS>>> GO. DO. NOW. It was a BLAST.

Manual, there are a billion JL’s out there with autos, and the few with stick are wonky in comparison to our superior sticks

that and the 2.3 is generally more reliable than the 2.7

Support China an opt for the stick, or buy American.

Dude, you're 50 (I'm close to it), do you really want to be pushing in that clutch pedal thousands of times a month with a SEVEN (6) speed transmission? I have a bad knee from the Army so it's a no brainer for me. But just saying clutching a 7 (6) speed is going to wear out that knee joint man. Sad but true. Hear me now believe me later. I got a 3 speed CJ7 in the stable and it's a lot of work, I can't imagine a 6 speed. You'll thank me in a few years.
Sorry to hear about your knee. The reason why I refused to volunteer for 82 or a Group is I wanted knees to work when I was old. Told them I knew too many guys who were not that old but couldn't do as they had messed up knees and ankles from jumping or hell just being infantry. I served in the reserves as a truck driver then went AD as a Medic retired in 01.

Both my JKU and Dodge 250 are manuals. The Bronco ( on order ) is an auto a college graduation gift for grandson and I am real sure his decision is based on what his GF can drive. Still not a bad thing - got to keep the wife happy.

Thank you for your service.

If ordering for myself I would order a manual- Should cost less, weigh less = better mileage, durable ,fun factor and in my opinion less likely to be stolen.

At least you have an excuse as to why others cannot borrow your vehicle they do not know how to shift.

I keep searching for answers to this question: MT or Auto.

For me, the math goes like this:
The potential fun/excitement/awesomeness of MT over Auto = X
The potential fun/excitement/awesomeness of 2.7 over 2.3 = Y

X > Y (by a lot)

Driven manual all my life but decided to get an auto 2.7 this for two reasons: nobody I know drives a manual and I'm tired of never being able to share driving duties on long road trips (and I refuse to teach someone on one of my vehicles), and also because I plan to play in the desert and rock crawl which is new to me as a driver (been a passenger plenty) and I don't want fuss with a clutch in those situations.

I have another 6 speed turbo to play with on days I want to shift gears and really fly, so it felt natural to have an auto on this bigger vehicle.

Yes, Anyone that’s driven a manual would already know that the thighs can be used to hold a steering wheel for when you need to perform other operations with your hands. Such as texting and drinking coffee!
